About Me

Hi,

Well I’m a 36 year old mum myself and I have three children, my son is 18, my eldest daughter is 16 and my youngest daughter is 6 years. I had been contemplating childminding for a long while before actually doing so. I became registered in September 2008 and didn’t begin trading until March 2009 as I wanted to take the time on my training and also getting my name out as a childminder.

I currently live in a large four bedroom home in Ashington, Northumberland which is in a nice friendly and safe neighborhood. My home is large with both a front and a rear secure grassed gardens. This I believe to be a warm, welcoming and happy typical loving family home. Being a mum and having young children my home is secure from all aspects from electric sockets to the stairs. I have my first inspection to become registered in August 2008 and then my first big Ofsted inspection in August 2009 and gained a GOOD with aspects of OUTSTANDING which I am very very pleased with as I think it truly reflects the care that I provide.

My children are my whole world and I really enjoy the fact that although I am working I am still able to spend quality time with my children and they are able to have an even greater group of close friends.

I have a large collection of children’s toys from birth onwards, These including counting toys, foam play pads, ball pool, books also a large variety in Braille, arts & crafts collections, play dough, light sensitive toys, musical toys, action figures, dolls, prams, laser tag games, tag tails, and many more.
I also allow children limited use to the internet (cyber nanny protected) on a laptop solely for childminding, in our home we also have the following which the children can use: wii, playstation 2 & 3, Tablets, PSP with a large selection of children’s games.
We have a very large collection of DVDs and Blu-ray films which the children enjoy watching, also the use of sky installed into our home.

In the gardens of my childminding setting I have various large equipment which the children have access to these being, trampoline, swing hammock, slide, cars, bike, scooters, go-karts.

During the school holidays I try to do as many suitable activities as possible (these chargeable to the parent) for example white house farm, pot-a-doodle doo, Alnwick Gardens, fun jungle, pirates island, bounce, lions den and many more.
During term time more local destinations are generally visited such as local play parks and soft play centres.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

My Experience

Although I have had a lot of experience with children and from attending courses and gaining qualifications I would honestly say the best form of experience would come from being a mum. I have three children of my own, my son is 18 and my daughters are 16 and 6. I also have a lot of siblings, nieces, nephews etc I have always had children of all ages & abilities around me. Also I have personal experience with down’s syndrome due to my cousin and a close friends child. I have also gained experience through childminding of children with ADHA, Autism, challenging behaviour and severe eye defects. I have also had children who have suffered from separation anxiety due to leaving their parents for the first time which can be a very daunting thing.
