About Me
Hi, my name is Dawn and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder. I live in Ryton with my husband Ashley, who is a retired Police Officer.
I have two grown up children (Matt is a Chef in Oslo and Emily is a Speech and Language Therapist). I have been a Childminder since 1997 and have cared for many children in the local area. I love being able to keep in touch and I’ve been able to see children grow and flourish beyond their time with me.
I run a small early years setting, caring for little ones till they start nursery or school. I am a calm and gentle person and I provide a loving environment, where children feel a part of my family and are extremely happy.
A typical week would see us visiting local toddler groups, parks, soft play and the library. We are always busy baking, singing, reading stories and getting out and about in our local community.
I love sharing my enthusiasm for gardening with children. This year we have created a new bee and butterfly garden together. The children have chosen plants and have watered them daily. We have also started a vegetable patch and have grown peas and tomatoes.
Parents are actively involved in all that we get up to and enjoy receiving messages and photos throughout the day.
I keep up to date with current childcare issues and ideas, and I have been part of a Quality Assurance Scheme to promote good standards of childcare in the Gateshead borough. I have a Level 3 Childcare Qualification and I have attended courses on The High Scope Implementation, Parents Early Years and Learning (PEAL) and Including Children Everywhere (ICE) - these are just a few examples. I continue to develop my practice, and I am motivated to expand my knowledge in order to provide the best care possible.
I have recently received my fourth outstanding Ofsted grade (July 2025). My next anticipated vacancies will be in Sept 2026. I welcome enquiries for then.
My Experience
I have twenty nine years experience as a Childminder caring for children from birth to age 14. I have experience caring for a child with Epilepsy and also have experience caring for children with serious food allergies.
I am also a mother of two children.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
I offer funded childcare, which includes breakfast, healthy snacks and lunch.
Full Day care £50 per day
