My Summary
About Me
I live in Drighlington with my partner, our 3 beautiful children, our frindly house cats and cheeky chickens. I was graded GOOD at my first Ofsted inspection in summer 2019. I am due my second graded inspection anytime soon! I have just returned from maternity after having my third baby, so have some limited availability for school collection or full day childcare and school holiday club.
I have a background in care with the elderly, as I worked in several care homes and provided home help. I have over 12 years experience of working with children having worked in several child care settings since gaining my level 3 childcare qualification. Naturally, when my eldest was born I created my Little Stars childminding setting, which started in a small 2 bedroom terrace in Gildersome in 2017. As my family grew, so did my business when we moved into our forever home on my childhood street. Now we enjoy our lovely big playroom with plenty of space for activities and I have a passion for creating themes to engage children with their learning and development. We enjoy celebrating special occasions and events. I also tailor next steps around each child's interests and learning schemas.
I collect children from Drighlington Primary School, which we walk to and from daily to reduce our carbon footprint, promote exercise and get fresh air whatever the weather. We play thinking games or discuss numbers and letters we spot along the journey. We learn about road safety and awareness of our surroundings. We also observe and discuss changes in the seasons and nature, which is reflected by our favourite blossom tree we walk passed down the street and admire. Walking home creates a nice space for us to discuss our day and to have a catch up before rushing off to play when we get back to the setting.
I offer a child friendly vegetarian menu, which may accommodate allergies and dietary needs. Unfortunately we are not a nut free setting. I allow children to vote on what we will eat each day. Parents are asked to provide a packed lunch if their child attends a full day so we can picnic. I fully support Mums who wish to bring breast milk or breast feed their child in my home.
We have a lovely secure back garden which has plenty to space to make assult courses, climb the big climbing dome, create concoctions in the mud kitchen and more! We grow and harvest our own vegetables and fruit, and collect 3 fresh eggs daily. Our house has been renovated with children in mind and is ever changing to create a space which supports the learning and development of children. I am a DIY queen, with a passion to create new projects for the children to enjoy, having made a secret under-stair den, mud kitchens, a chicken run, raspberry trellis, a large raised patio and more.
My own children love having other children around to play with and we see them all as part of our family. If you feel like your child would like to join the fun then please contact me for more information.
My Experience
I previously worked alongside a childminder as an assistant for work experience during my childcare course, which inspired me to be childminder. Childminding settings allow flexibility to be able to go out to the park, library, orchard, toddler groups or play gyms which provide more social opportunities for the children and a chance to discover their community. To care for a child in our home environment means they become a part of our family and we a part of their family too. It is a relaxed space to build good relationships with parents and I support the family as a whole, not just the children.
Since qualifying my level 3 course in 2012 I have worked in 2 private daycare nurseries working with children from 0 to 5 and a school club working with children from 3 to 11. I have also been a creche worker, travelling to Children's Centers around Leeds which included working with children whose first language was not English.
I have experience with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) which is the staturatory framework used in the UK for children in Ofsted registered early years settings from birth to 5 years old. All early years providers must use the EYFS, and follow the same statuary guidance and legislation including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
My Qualifications
Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma
Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
Level 3 Creative Craft in Mixed Crafts

I have held a full driving license since 2008
I attend Pediatric First Aid courses and complete relevent Safeguarding courses, which are compulsory to update regularly to ensure good working practise.
