About Me
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Little Chicks Childcare Doncaster, our warm, welcoming home-based childcare setting in Woodfield Plantation, Doncaster.
My husband Rob and I have been caring for young children for over 25 years. We are both passionate about giving children the very best start, providing a safe, happy and nurturing environment where they can learn, explore, play and simply enjoy being children.
We are extremely proud to have been rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted four times during our time as child practitioners.
Our setting has been created with children's needs, interests and development at the heart of everything we do. We have a spacious, temperature-controlled play and activity room, together with a purpose-built summer house which gives the children another wonderful space for play, creativity and learning. We also have a fully enclosed garden with astroturf, allowing us to enjoy outdoor play throughout the year.
Being outdoors is a really important part of our day. We are lucky to have lots of wildlife around us, including our own designated wildlife area, giving children opportunities to discover nature and learn about the world around them.
Most importantly, we want children to feel safe, secure, loved, valued and happy when they are with us. We provide a genuine home-from-home environment where children can build confidence, develop independence and learn through play, while being supported at their own pace.
Every child is different, so we get to know each child as an individual — their personality, interests, strengths and the things they may need a little more help with. We observe their development carefully and plan activities and experiences around their individual interests and next steps.
We use Tapestry to record children's learning and development, sharing observations, photographs and special moments with parents throughout their time with us. These memories belong to you and your child's Tapestry journal is yours to keep when they leave us.
We love finding new and interesting ways to make learning fun. Alongside plenty of traditional hands-on play, books, creative activities and outdoor experiences, we use carefully selected educational games and activities to support early maths, language, shapes, colours, sorting, coordination and early literacy skills.
Our aim is simple: happy children who feel confident to explore, learn and have fun.
My Experience
I have been an Ofsted-registered child practitioner since 2002, caring for children from 6 weeks old through to 10 years.
Over the years, Rob and I have had the privilege of caring for many wonderful children and watching them grow from tiny babies into confident, independent little people ready for their next steps.
We are incredibly proud to have achieved an OUTSTANDING Ofsted judgement four times, and we continue to reflect on our practice and look for ways to make the experience even better for the children in our care.
We are also members of PACEY and have an excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including the seven areas of learning and development and the Early Learning Goals.
We regularly visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which is a fantastic local resource for young children. These trips provide so many opportunities for children to learn about animals, nature and the wider world while enjoying exciting experiences together.
We are also an accredited Early Years provider for Doncaster, having met the additional standards required to offer funded early education places. This means eligible families can choose to access their funded hours within a small, home-based childcare setting rather than a larger nursery environment.
We believe that children thrive when they feel secure, listened to and genuinely cared for. We work closely with parents and value the relationship we build with each family, because we know that choosing someone to care for your baby or young child is a very important decision.
We would love to welcome you to Little Chicks, show you around and have a chat about your child and what you are looking for.
