My Experience
I have been fully inspected by the Care Inspectorate gaining Grade 5's (Very Good) in my Inspection in January 2026. I have Public Liability Insurance and am a member of the Scottish Childminding Association. All documents are available to view on your visit. A childcare pack will be issued for you to take home. Full Disclosure Scotland checks have been carried out and certificates displayed in my home. My husband is registered as a Care Assistant. Now members of the PVG Scheme. GDPR approved. Covid-19 secure childcare. First Aid and paediatric first aid training completed in 2021 with refresher in 2025. Child protection course complete.
My Qualifications
Mini First Aid refresher course completed in June 2025.
I am First Aid trained in Paediatric Care. Course updated 2017.
Attended Course in Child Protection in April 2015.
Experienced mother of 4 children (aged 30, 25, 20 and 16). Youngest son attends Queensferry High School and still lives in the family home.
My Availability
My hours are from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday (other hours can be discussed). I take the children on picnics and fun days out in and around the local area. I have two gardens with loose parts play, den building and climbing equipment and have wooded grassed area for lots of outdoor play in all weathers. This is particularly enjoyed with the children in my care. Nature crafts and growing fruit and vegetables in my garden. Climbing trees and foraging and home cooking/baking.
My Fees
- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
My fees are very competitive and best value for families as I am fully aware of changing financial circumstances currently ongoing on household budgets. Fees will be discussed at the first visit and a Parent Pack issued with further details of my policies, etc.
My Local Schools

Julia has looked after our little boy for 18months so far. He absolutely loves going to Julia’s home and is treated like part of the family. Julia is warm and welcoming. Our son began his settling in sessions when he was just 7 months old and we have always been reassured by Julia’s regular updates and photos. It is abundantly clear that he is under her close supervision throughout the day. We have total confidence that he is safe, happy and extremely well cared for when he is in Julia’s care.
Julia provides a safe yet exciting environment and encourages his curiosity with all sorts of fun and creative activities both within her home and on regular excursions. She is flexible and accommodates changes in his routine as he grows and develops.
We couldn’t have hoped for anything more and feel very fortunate to have found Julia at Hope Childcare.

We feel exceptionally lucky to have Julia as a childminder. Julia combines a fantastic, welcoming, gentle, caring, and kind demeanour with professionalism and thoroughness. I have absolute confidence that our son (2 years old) will be safe, well-looked after, and have a wonderful time. Julia's activities and toys just seem to be really well-chosen: it's easy to see from Julia's regular updates and photos how much our son enjoys his time there, and also that he's really learning, and developing his understanding of the world. The focus on nature and being outdoors is a real bonus. The children regularly do unusual and inspiring crafts, and these seem to be really well-designed; our son will often continue to engage with the crafts after he's brought them home (e.g. talking about them, or incorporating them into his play). In other settings, our son has sometimes had some difficulties settling, but he just seems to love Julia's company and activities: if we tell him in the evening that he's going to Julia's the next day, he often says he wants to go there straight away! We also really appreciate Julia's reassuring communications and updates.

Julia childminded for our daughter from the age of 5 months old. We had never left our daughter with anyone before so it was a big step for us, however Julia made us both feel so comfortable and valued as parents. Our daughter’s face lit up everytime we dropped her off and at times she didn’t want to leave! The home from home nurturing environment made the service more cosy for our little one. Julia’s communication is excellent and we regularly received photos and updates daily! Julia followed through with the changes of our daughters routines. She cared for our daughter like she was one of her own.
