Hi I am Clare, my business is called Clare’s Childcare. I am married to Steve and we have 3 children.
Our house is calm, warm and welcoming as well as being full of fun and laughter. We have a large enclosed garden with lots of different plants and trees to encourage wildlife. We have a small dog, 2 cats and several fish. Activities are planned around individual children’s interests and next steps, we meet up with a few other Childminders a couple of times a week to enable the children to play in a larger group and also extend their friendships beyond my setting. We visit toddler groups, play centres, parks and the library to name a few. Craft and messy play activities are provided for children who wish to take part.
I registered with Ofsted in 2005 and have been a Registered Childminder since looking after many different children over the years. I was a parent governor at my children's primary school for 7 years.
I have extensive experience dealing with food allergies, in particular nuts, dairy, egg and wheat. In addition to this I have experience dealing with eczema and asthma.
I also have experience with children with speech and language difficulties.
My aim is to keep up to date with training courses through the termly clusters in Safeguarding, role of the Senco and tracking children’s progress that the local authority provide. I also undertake further training to ensure I have the relevant knowledge required to underpin my practice to ensure it is the best it can be.
Steve works occasionally as my assistant and we have both completed;
Introducing Childminding Practice
We are Paediatric First Aid trained (we redo the full course every 3 years) and have completed food hygiene and Safeguarding courses.
We have also completed several other training courses and have the certificates in our portfolio.
I have completed;
Level 3 certificate in EYFS 2009
Level 4 Certificate in Early years (Cert EYP)
In 2012 I gained the Foundation Degree in Early Years.
Steve has completed the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce.
Our basic opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7.30am until 6pm, although we can be flexible to your needs so don't hesitate to contact me to find out if we can work around your hours.

My little girl has been going to Claire one day a week since October and I cannnot even begin to express how much of a difference it has made. My little one loves Claire as she treats them like her own she's very trustworthy and such a nice lady , the children and her do all kinds of fun activities and trips out which I get updated about and pictures sent. I'd defiantly reccomend claires childcare to anyone!!
Clare contacted me through this site and invited my son and I over to meet her and her family. Right from the start Clare and Steve have been very friendly and professional. Their home is very welcoming and they have a great set up for the children. There is lots to do and they are always carrying out different activities with the children and sending artwork home! The garden is also fantastic and safe to play in. After meeting Clare, I knew immediately that this was where I wanted my son to go to. We had a few settling in visits for my son before I went back to work so when the day came, I felt very happy leaving him there. Clare and Steve took away all the worries of leaving him for the first time! I cant recommend Clares Childcare highly enough and my daughter will be joining them soon! I couldn't ask for better!
My daughter has been going to Clare and Steve for 8 months now and is a very happy little lady.
I originally found Clare and Steve on this website and arranged to meet with them with my mum (an ex-childminder of 30 years with Outstanding Ofsted Status). I'd also arranged to visit 3 other childcarers on the same day and saw Clare and Steve first. As soon as we arrived I knew it was the place for my daughter. All the children were happy and confident and were able to play in a safe and fun setting. Clare and Steve have created a wonderful environment for the children with plenty of different toys, games and activities which they regularly rotate so the children always have something new to be facinated by. The house also has a lovely garden with some great Little Tikes activity toys which Evie has loved playing with over the summer months. The children are encouraged to play together - this has been invaluable for Evie as she is an only child and she's learnt social skills and sharing far more quickly than had she been at home.
I really love the daily activity book which reports on Evie's eating, pooping, sleeping and playing as well as her general happiness during the day. Aside from one day in the last 8 months when she was poorly she has always been happy and smiley.
The settling in period was made really easy with a couple of trial part days and then trial day and in the early weeks I received regular updated reassuring me that Evie was playing happily with the other children.
If you are looking for a safe, flexible, fun, family oriented environment where your child will learn social skills in a play-filled setting then this is the place for you. I'm really glad I found Clare and Steve. Both are naturals....but then they do have three of their own children so they really are experts!
