I have been working in early years settings since August 2011 and I currently work full time in a two to three room in a Haywards Heath nursery. I am 30, but am aware I look younger! My shifts change weekly, which means I can offer evening babysitting on an ad hoc basis.
Please note that I do not offer nannying services due to working full time. I live near the Princess Royal Hospital and do not yet drive, which unfortunately limits how far I can travel for babysitting. I am willing to walk, but only up to forty five minutes in order to keep down my walk home afterwards.
I have experience of working with babies and children aged from four months to seven years. I take great pride in my job and am hard working, reliable, attentive, and friendly. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and pride myself on being able to use my common sense. You can find further details of my experience and qualifications below.
My hobbies and interests include reading, singing with Rock Choir, playing the flute, and theatregoing. I am passionate about the importance of building children’s early communication and storytelling as a strong foundation for emotional wellbeing and future literacy. I therefore have a very keen interest in Makaton signing alongside speech and singing, which I implement on a daily basis at nursery.
If you are interested in speaking to me, please do contact me and I will be very happy to discuss my availability and fees with you. Please be aware that I am not a fee paying Childcare member, so only paying members will be able to contact me! I can provide references, a copy of my DBS disclosure, and ID if desired.
I have some experience of caring for children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) for a variety of different reasons including SEN, speaking English as a second language, and glue ear. I therefore have some knowledge of Makaton signing, which is a particular passion of mine. I am always expanding my knowledge of signing through the official Makaton core vocabulary and attending courses and workshops. (When Covid-19 allows!)
When working in nurseries, my duties include the following:
Working within a team to fully support children and meet their individual care and learning needs, extending children's learning by observing and planning appropriately, providing a positive role model, maintaining a safe, hygienic environment, and liaising and communicating effectively with parents and colleagues.
I spent October half term of 2015 as an Early Years Instructor with Ultimate Activity Camps. This involved guiding and supervising children aged four and five in a range of activities including swimming, sports, and arts and crafts. I also created a calm base room with a variety of toys and resources for child-led play sessions.
From September 2013 to February 2014, I undertook two terms of a twice weekly placement in a Year 1 class as a classroom assistant. Responsibilities included: supporting the class teacher and teaching assistants; carrying out activities and work in small groups or one to one; providing feedback to the teacher and TAs; contributing to larger projects such as artwork displays; playground duty; basic admin such as photocopying; helping to maintain a clean and orderly environment; and providing a consistent approach to behaviour management across the team.
Mandatory annual NHS training including Paediatric Resuscitation and Basic Life Support, Manual Handling, Safeguarding, Information Governance, Fire Safety, and Infection Control.
Makaton eight hour training day.
Paediatric First Aid
To Baby and Beyond 12 hour course
Sept. 2014 - May 2016:
BA(Hons) Early Childhood Practice at the University of Brighton.
I withdrew from this course in order to work full time.
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education - grade B
A levels in English Literature, French, Spanish, and Sociology.
9 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English, Maths, and Science.
Flute grade 6.
Weekend evenings, including Friday evenings and during school holidays. I no longer offer daytime babysitting or evenings during the working week as I can be up as early as five o’clock in the morning for work!
Evening availability tends to start between seven and half past seven, depending on my shifts. I cannot request particular shifts in order to babysit earlier as this is not permitted by my employers.
Please contact me to ask about specific dates. As I am not a paying Childcare member, only paying members will be able to message me.
