My Requirements

We are looking for a wonderful and committed person to work with our youngest son, who is 11 years old, as a part-time, after-school nanny.

Our son has Down's Syndrome, is autistic and non-verbal. He is fun to be with, enjoys his routines and interests and builds warm relationships.

The role is for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 3.30-6.30pm. Due to our own work, we have no flexibility on the days.

The role involves being home to greet my son from school, giving him a meal, personal care and playing at home and in the garden. Often (and certainly while settling in) one parent will be working from home upstairs during the nanny’s sessions.

The job is well-paid to reflect the unique nature of the role and we are interested in someone for whom this could be a longer term role.

Full training will be provided, along with a nanny contract and benefits.

Additional hours will be available, especially in the school holidays (by mutual agreement).

We are looking for someone who:
• is patient, responsive and engaging with our son
• is comfortable with nappy changing and personal care for an older child
• has substantial experience caring for children/ young people with SEN, or an interest in developing this experience
• is able to follow instructions and a clear routine, including specific food and drink preparation
• is physically fit and able meet the physical demands of the role
