About Me

Currently caring for: twin boys (6) after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and baby girl (8mo) on Thursdays. I have availability during Tues/weds/fri up until school pick up and all day Mondays. Potential flexibility on days can be discussed if needed.

My Experience

In June 2013 I began working as a live-in nanny in Lewes for an 18 month old girl. We had lots of fun together, one of my favourite times of day was just after breakfast - I would be emptying the dishwasher and she would come down from her highchair and we'd dance around the kitchen to the radio. Most of our time together was spent laughing!
Sadly, after just a couple of months of working for them, a medical condition of the child's was discovered which meant that I could no longer stay with the family.

I spent the next year living and working with two boys aged 7 and 10 in Brighton. They were both at school and therefore relatively independant but my duties included waking them in the mornings and getting them dressed, breakfasted and ready for school in good time. I took the youngest to school on the bus and picked him up at the end of the day, having taken care of the general cleaning/washing/ironing around the house during school hours.

I thoroughly enjoy cooking and I would plan and make nutritional meals for the boys (and often their parents) most days, ferry them to and from their various clubs and after-school lessons and supervise bath time and bed time until the evening when their parents would return from work.

When we had free time the boys and I would bake cakes and cookies, do crafts with materials from my bottomless craft box or take the bikes or scooters to the local park.

This job ended at the end of the school term as I decided to look for new live-out jobs with more hours so that I could move into my own home. I spent the summer nannying ad hoc for various people and in September began working part time for two families.

For three days a week I would pick up a boy aged 2 and a half from his home in Kemptown and take him out for the morning. We spent a lot of time at the park or in the pavilion gardens (feeding the squirrels and jumping in puddles!) or the library. I would take him to music groups or home schoolers meet-ups in Queens Park. This was a temporary position and after four months the family moved abroad to Thailand.

At around the same time I began a position with two girls aged 5 and 9 in Fiveways. On Mondays and some thursdays I'd pick them up from school and we'd play, sing and draw in between taking the eldest girl to ballet class and preparing their evening meal.
This position lasted for a year and a half, at which point the family adopted another child and the parents took leave from work.

In January 2015 I started a nanny/housekeeper job in Lewes with three children, twin boys aged 7 and a 2 year old girl. I continued working with them until 2019, when both the family and my circumstances changed.

I still have a wonderful bond with all three of the children and consider the whole family as good friends. Some of our favourite things to do included bus trips to the library, crafts, baking and drawing at home and trips into Brighton to the beach or the park.

My general duties in this role included school pick up, extra curricular classes and playdates. I prepared and cooked meals for all the children. Additionally to the childcare duties I also took care of the household when on duty. I spent four hours a week (while the children are at school) deep cleaning the house and generally kept it tidy and organised.

During this period of time I worked for two other families for over a year, one in Brighton with 5 and 7 year old boys and the other in Lewes with 10 year old twins. Each of these positions were for one day a week after school and ended when both families moved homes.

Around September 2016 I started looking after 8 month baby twins for a few hours a week. This gradually increased until February 2017, when their mum went back to work and I started working 2 full days a week with them.

I had sole charge of them from 7-5.30 on Mondays and Tuesdays. They are very energetic and boisterous so we spend lots of time in the garden watering plants and digging in the mud, messy playing in the kitchen with jelly and cornflour, building (and destroying) dens from cardboard and blankets and taking walks to the park to feed the ducks and squirrels.

They now attend school and I look after them after school for 3 days a week, occasional mornings and longer on school holidays as needed. During lockdown I cared for them while their mum worked from home and undertook their home-schooling.

I have just started another position caring for an 8 month old baby girl on Thursdays.
