Paw Paws Childcare
Childminder in Long Ashton
My Summary
At Full Capacity Until Sept 2027
About Me
I am full until around September 2027 unless anything changes. Please get in touch to be added to my waiting list.
Hi,
My name is Pauline, though all the children call me Paw Paw :)
I live in Long Ashton and have spent over 25 years dedicated to working with children — a career and passion that brings me so much joy. I hold a distinction-level qualification in childcare and have worked in many roles, including as a self-employed Childminder, Nanny, in Nurseries and 14 wonderful years as a Mother.
I love helping children thrive — supporting their health, confidence, and development into happy, well-rounded individuals. I pride myself on building close, caring relationships while always maintaining professionalism and consistency. Through play and learning, I encourage creativity, communication, numeracy, and social skills, always with a focus on fun, resilience, and confidence-building.
I live with my husband Nathan, our teenage son Zachary, and our two pets: Vito the cat (age 17) and Zorro the dog (age 8). Both are very gentle, well-behaved, and great with children.
From my lovely home in Long Ashton, right next to a big playground and minutes from countryside walks and forests, I provide care for children from birth upwards. We have a dedicated playroom (that rivals most toy shops!) and we love spending time exploring outdoors every day rain or shine, especially our forest walks and countryside adventures.
A little about me and my setting:
• Over 25 years’ childcare experience
• Ofsted registered with a Good rating
• Annual DBS check (previously CRB)
• Full Paediatric First Aid certification
• Excellent reviews with professional and character references available
• Fully insured with public liability cover
• Safe, comfortable transport: large 4x4, clean licence (18+ years, no accidents/convictions), and modern rear-facing car seats.
I would love the opportunity to meet you and your child(ren) to see how I can support your family and whether we agree my setting would be the best place for your child to florish. Please take a look at my reviews.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Warm regards,
Pauline (Paw Paw)

Our daughter has been going to Pauline for over 2 years and absolutely loves her time there. We wanted her to have a home from home experience with lots of outdoor adventures and learning through play. Paw Paw delivers this and much much more in a caring and safe environment. I would 100% recommend Paw Paw, we were so lucky to find her and we are going to be very sad to say goodbye. Thank you Paw Paw ❤️

We’ve been so lucky to have Pauline look after our son for quite a while now. She’s fantastic, so reliable and our son adores her. We are delighted to entrust our second child with her much younger than our first because she’s so great. Thanks PawPaw!

Thank you Sam! We love having you all too and can’t wait for the next little one to start xx
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have Pauline looking after our son for the past six months. From the beginning, she has provided a nurturing, fun, and supportive environment.
She has made a big difference helping our son through some of his sensory dislikes. With patience, creativity, and lots of encouragement, she’s gently introduced new textures and experiences, helping him feel more comfortable and confident in situations that once overwhelmed him. We’ve noticed such positive changes, and we know her care has played a big role in that progress.
We love that Pauline gets the kids outdoors almost every day, rain or shine and creates many opportunities for the children to connect with nature and stay active. Our son is always keen to tell us what he’s been learning about at ‘PawPaws’.
Our son has absolutely loves his time with Pauline, and we can’t recommend her highly enough to any family looking for a truly caring and dedicated childminder

Pauline has been looking after our son for the last two years and I am happy to recommend her as a wonderful childminder. She consistently provides a safe, caring, and creative environment for our child. She has a natural ability to engage children in activities that are both fun and educational, and she provides daily updates/photos of our child which we love.
We’ve been impressed by the thoughtful and nurturing approach she brings to each day. It’s clear that Pauline genuinely cares about the children in her care, and we have always felt confident and reassured knowing our child is in good hands.
If you are looking for a childminder who truly goes above and beyond in fostering a caring, creative, and positive environment, we cannot recommend Pauline highly enough!

We were so lucky that Pauline had availability when we needed childcare! Our little boy Caleb had a fantastic year with her, with creative daily activities & excursions - I am sure this was a huge contributing factor to him becoming the inquisitive, outdoors loving little boy that he is! She was brilliant at communication & her playroom was spotless & a dream for little ones!

Pauline looked after our 2-year-old for several months while we were new to the area and settling in to our new jobs. She was genuinely amazing! She quickly established herself as an essential haven of security and consistency for our daughter during a very unsettled period. She helped her establish strong bonds with the other children through structured play, forest walks, messy play and personal development. She gave feedback every day at pickup and always made us feel completely confident about our daughter’s care. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

Our first child so additional nerves when dropping him off for the first time but Pauline put us at ease immediately.
Albie loved every moment spent with Pauline and nothing was too much trouble. She went above and beyond in providing advise and tips when Albie would play up at home.
Creative, loving, caring, fun and a super safe pair of hands. We could not recommend Pauline highly enough.

Pauline has provided the best childminding service our family could have hoped for. She is always professional, caring, calm and kind. Having breast-feed and been inseparable with my daughter, it was such a big thing to return to work and trust someone else with her care. Pauline took away all that worry. She was brilliantly supportive and patient (with me!) and my daughter took to her instantly, they are the best of friends.
They spend their days playing, learning and going for walks. There is a keen focus on learning & development, but if my daughter is teething they have cuddles and read books – my daughters favourite things! Pauline always recognises what she needs and adapts accordingly with the most upmost of care.
She has a wealth of experience and always offers good advice, if asked.
Pauline keeps me constantly updated and I love seeing the real time pictures of what they are getting up to each day. Her clean playroom is a great setting for learning and having fun, and her house is near nice footpaths and forests to play in. I highly recommend Pauline as a fantastic childminder.

Pauline looked after our son 2 days a week while we were at work. He settled very well and was excited to spend time with her. Pauline was flexible with timings and worked with what we needed. Pauline did lots of arts and crafts with our son and he loved this. Thank you Pauline .

Pauline looked after our son from when he was 9 months until he was 3 years old, spanning across the pandemic and beyond. She was absolutely brilliant and she's now taking care of our 11 month old! Pauline worked with all of our requests- to use washable nappies, altering nap timings (even when I'm sure it was a bit of a pain really!) and has always been very flexible and thoughtful. I feel incredibly lucky that we found her and would absolutely recommend her to others.
