My Summary
About Me
Hello,
I'm Maaria, From Lancashire.
With over 17 years + of experience in education, I currently work in the Further Education (FE), supporting a wide range of learners—including those with SEND and apprentices. I specialise in removing barriers to learning by developing and implementing tailored strategies that help all learners access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
My experience includes working with individuals aged 4–25 with Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD), such as Autism, ADHD, PMLD, mental health difficulties, anxiety, and physical disabilities. I’ve worked across a variety of settings, including residential care, specialist SEND provisions, and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs).
A key part of my role involves writing and reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) annually, ensuring they remain person-centred, up to date, and effective in meeting the evolving needs of each learner.
Collaboration is at the heart of my approach—I am a committed team player who builds strong, supportive relationships with colleagues, students, families, and the wider community to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.
I plan imaginative and differentiated lessons (for instance interactive, sensory stories at a variety of levels) to meet the needs of individual students, supporting those with speech difficulties, and encouraging independence and communication at appropriate levels.
I have used Makaton and British Sign Language to meet the needs of young people with communication and other difficulties, used braille/visual cards, large print, flash cards, sensory art, stories, and games within the learning environment.
I endeavour to promote each pupil’s independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement.
Through my experiences in different schools so far, I have developed resilience, reflection, and adaptability. These are skills I view as essential to nurturing the continuous development of a successful teacher.
Thank you

Maaria has been working with my 18 year old daughter for a year now. She has global developmental delay and speech delay. I've been home educating my daughter.
Having Maarias input has been refreshing. It's given Me the support and direction I needed. Lessons are planned and very productive. She's very well equipped to teach special needs children and really understands their needs.
I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend this tutor if your looking for a professional tutor for your special child.
