My Summary
About Me
I live in a small village in south Shropshire. I take children to and collect from Bucknell primary school. I enjoy doing art + craft, and cookery with the children, and going for walks in the woods and by the river. I have quite a large garden for the children to play in, with sand and water play, and wheeled toys such as a balance bike and go-cart. I encourage the children to have friends around to play. We enjoy going to each of the 3 parks in the village.
My Experience
I have been a childminder for approximately 30 years, originally to provide company for my sociable son, but now because I love the job, especially the children's conversation with the insight into how their minds work. It is wonderful to be able to be a positive influence on their development. I also am the preschool leader in our village primary school and a school governor.
My Qualifications
NVQ3 in Children's Care, Learning + Development. I have up to date qualifications in paediatric first aid and in Safeguarding. Because I work in school I am able to take advantage of the training that they provide. I am interested in child development and nutrition and always read about those issues in the press. I subscribe to updates from online sources such as Ofsted, NSPCC Learning, Food Standards Agency and Shropshire Council. I am a member of Pacey and have done some of their online courses recently.
