About Me
Hi, my name is May and I am located in Shepherdsbush, local to many libraries, parks and public transport. I have a Chinese and Portugese background and over 8 years experience in working with young children ranging from all ages.I am a 31 year old mother to a very cheeky and happy 8 year old boy. An Early Years Studies graduate with one year experience as a teaching assistant and over two years work experience in various educational settings.
I currently work as a pastry chef 4 days a week and see this field of work as an opportunity to earn extra money whilst also caring for my son at the same time. Also, this is a great way for my son to have a play mate and someone to learn, explore and discover with.
I believe I have a strong understanding of children in their early years and their holistic developmental needs. The safety, care and happiness of children is paramount and sets the foundation for the outdoor trips and activities I plan as well as the indoors.
I am a loving, affectionate, enthusiastic, organised and hard working person. I have a lot of experience organising stimulating, educational and enjoyable activities to aid development in children, some of which include baking, reading, arts and crafts, trips out to playgroups, the park, swimming, the library as well as initiating and organising playdates.
I strongly believe in a healthy balanced lifestyle and this is reflected on my own choice of meals I prepare and cook. I also strongly believe in good hygiene not only physically, but my home and surroundings.
I believe in helping and encouraging children to develop the vital skills including independence, self esteem, good manners and motor skills in order to help prepare them for school and society. As well as encouraging children to learn at their own pace, i also believe in guiding and challenging children to advance by providing them with more intricate extended questions and activities.
I thoroughly enjoy going on play dates and discovering new and exciting child friendly places/activities. Most importantly, I go by the motto that 'I will treat your child the way I would expect and love for someone to look after my own'.

My Experience
I studied Early Childhood Education at University which meant I worked in various child related placements and have a thorough understanding of child development theories. After graduating, I worked as a teaching assistant for one year before I had my son. Despite this, I have always been surrounded by young family members whom I have helped look after and raise .

When I needed to attend meetings for work but couldn't leave my 4 month old baby alone for too long May was a total lifesaver, she was completely flexible and happy to amend dates and times even at short notice, she was happy to travel to meet me nearby work and would take my baby son for walks or sit with him in a cafe and kept me updated on how he was doing. May's communication is fantastic, she was caring and understanding and I would highly recommend her as a babysitter.
Overall
Like every parent, it's always a challenge finding the right babysitter that you can trust, but most of all one that gets along with your children. We found May in 2017 and since then have never looked back. She has a heart of gold and absolutely loves kids, testament to that is the relationship she has with her own 4 year old son. She is trustworthy and genuine in nature and will always send you quick updates on how your child is doing when in her care.
I was reluctant to write this review as I would love to keep May all to ourselves but she deserves other families out there who need a responsible and trustworthy care for their child.
Our son was in her care since he was 6-7 months old and he's now 2 and we still have May over to babysit him from time to time. He loves her and has also become good friends with her son. I rely on her and I really do recommend her as she has become a long-term babysitter that we've never looked for any other. First and foremost she is a mother herself, so she knows what she's doing.
