About Us
Step By Step Montessori operates two beautiful Montessori's in North London. We started in the John Keble Church Halls (our Edgware branch) in 2004 and we opened our second purpose built branch in 2012 in MIll HIll. Our Edgware branch has two classrooms: a light airy large hall for our over threes, and a warm and cosy class for our under threes. Our Mill Hill branch is a warm and calm building, all built around our children's needs. We have our over threes in the morning, and younger children can come and join us in the afternoon too.
Our Montessori practice is what separates us by providing deep level learning for every child. Our environment is specially created with scientifically designed materials around the child's developmental needs. We believe in promoting children's independence from the very beginning, and promoting deep concentration within freedom and limits in the class. We strive to ensure that each child is loved, welcomed, valued, heard and is given wings to fly. In recognition of our high standards of Montessori Education, we are a teaching practice school for the Maria Montessori Institute. We also hold the accreditation from ME(UK) for our authentic and strong Montessori practice.
Every day we offer extra-curricular activities in Mill Hill during the afternoons; ranging from French to dynamic music classes. This provides an all round education for children.
Both sites are within walking distance to each other and both have received a 'Good' Ofsted rating. This means that children from Edgware can join our afternoon sessions in Mill Hill. Our Edgware site is open from 9am-12pm, and our Mill Hill branch is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. We serve freshly cooked hot meals for lunch which are vegetarian and made onsite everyday by our cook. We had a five star rating in our recent food and hygiene inspection in 2016.

My 2 year old son started in September and the staff was very supportive in making sure he settled well at his own pace; he is now always happy to go.
The staff is very professional, caring & friendly. A lot of care has been put in the unique & beautiful environment; children are irresistibly drawn to it! It is designed to promote independence, social interaction but also to appeal to the children’s interests and is constantly reviewed & changed.
The class has a homely feel & is like a mini community where children enjoy taking part in looking after their environment. As it’s a mixed aged group, children learn to respect and care for each other.
The beautiful hands on material also allows children to learn literacy and numeracy in a very sensorial & concrete way; making abstract learnings easier, more interesting for children.
I find my son has already grown more independent, he has also developed better self control and seems quite content and calm when he comes out of school.
