Karen P
Childminder in Luton
My Summary
About Me
I HAVE LIMITED SPACE FOR SEPTEMBER 2026.
I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder, rated Outstanding at my last inspection (May 2023). I have an NCFE CACHE Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, a Level 3 Early Years SENCo qualification and I am a Forest Childcare Provider and Early Years Eco Scheme setting in the Bushmead area of Luton. I offer a loving 'home from home' setting for all children in my care.
I have professionally cared for children aged from 9 weeks old to 12 years and I have 2 children of my own. However, the setting is open for EYFS children during term time only and I am not available for pickup or drop offs to other settings or and do not provide holiday cover only.
As a member of the Forest Childcare Asqsociation, I am committed to ensuring minded children spend lots of time outdoors, all year round. We enjoy outings to woodland areas, nature reserves, lakes and local parks. I encourage my minded children to jump in puddles, collect 'treasure', enjoy 'weather' walks, look for minibeasts, climb trees, roll down hills, to explore and investigate, and appreciate the great outdoors and connect with nature and the setting embeds and embraces environmental responsibility. Wellies and puddle suits are an absolute must at my setting!
When we are at home, I offer a balance of child led and adult led activities which cater for all ages and stages of development, promoting a language rich approach and the children's interests, celebrating their abilities and nurturing their development. These include messy play, creative play, imaginative play, baking, games, planting and growing, sharing books, singing and dancing, yoga and much more to ensure the children in my care have a fun and stimulating time. I am a firm believer that a child learns through play and ensure they are given lots of opportunities to do this. I have lots of age-appropriate resources. I also have an enclosed garden complete with mud kitchen, slide, ride on toys and other play equipment. We also go on outings to the library, soft play, gardening club, stay-and-play groups and visit local towns, often enjoying babyccinos in a café.
I am committed to every child in my setting feeling valued and important and I promote the importance of positively working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.
I have memberships for National Trust, English Heritage and the Forest Childcare Association for outings.
All children are required to have healthy, balanced and nutritious meals in my setting.
We have a Labrador Retriever who is fully vaccinated, wormed and flea treated and I have appropriate risk assessments and he has supervised interactions with children in my care.
My Experience
I have professionally cared for many children aged from babies under a year to 12 years and I have 2 children of my own and I also have experience of dealing with children with hearing impairment, visual impairment and learning difficulties.
I am a member of PACEY and The Early Years Alliance.

Amazing childminder, highly recomended, amazing with kids and parents. Have learned so much from Karen. Amazing with children and so engaged, as soon as sun is out they are all out and about, whether its going on a walk or local library and alot of arts and crafts on a rainy day. Amazing childminder and my little one still remembers her with a smile on her face.

My daughter was cared for by Karen from the ages of 1 til 3. It was the first time I’d left her with someone other than family, and Karen was fantastic during the settling in period - she really put my mind at ease. I was always impressed at the amount of activities Karen organised for the children and the fun days out they got to experience. Karen would always send lots of updates and pictures throughout the day, I which I really appreciated. If you’re looking for someone who will go above and beyond in caring for your child, ensuring they have fun-filled days where both you as a parent and your child can feel comfortable and content - I can’t recommend Karen enough!

My daughter started with Karen in October 2022, just after she had just turned one. We were apprehensive about leaving her in someone else’s care but Karen put us at ease straight away and gradually settled her in. In the first few months of starting at Karen’s setting we noticed a great improvement in her speech, confidence and she always left her house beaming with delight and singing songs they have been singing that day. She always had a lot of fun at Karens and we loved receiving frequent photo updates throughout the day of what she was getting up to, Karen often took them on outings and they spent a lot of time outside, as well as trips to Tring Museum, Whipsnade Zoo and Wrest Park.
We are really grateful to have found Karen and think she was a great asset to our daughters development over the 15 months she was with her for. Karen treated our daughter like she was her own and we look forward to seeing her again soon, we have already asked her about having our second daughter once I return to work!
Thank you, Karen! x
