My Experience

I have experience as a registered Childminder and I now work at a Forest School during the day.

My Qualifications

I completed a degree in Psychology with Counselling at Newman University College in 2013 which provided me with the opportunity to explore personal interests in child development and issues that may have impact. My dissertation focused upon the effects of parenting styles on self-esteem and academic achievement. The transferable knowledge and skills have been demonstrated in my work as a Childminder but has also impacted on the relationship and ways of working with my own children. I am a life-long learner, actively engaging in courses and workshops that enhance my role as a caregiver. I achieved a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills through attendance at Halesowen College.

I endeavor to continue the lifetime learning trajectory, exploring opportunities for further personal and professional development. I am active in a Level 1 Aware Parenting Instructor course and a Certified Outdoor Mental Health Practitioner Programme. As you will see from my recent CPD, I am focused on the child, ensuring I give my best to nurture the next generation. Last year I volunteered for the charity Home-Start for which I completed the Volunteer Preparation Course. I voluntarily attended CPD offerings from the Dudley Safeguarding People Partnership which included further Child Protection Training, Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness, Parent and Infant Emotional Wellbeing and Adults Safeguarding Level 1. Last year I also participated in an Attachment Play workshop. In 2020, I attended trainings with the International Attachment Network including ‘Crying Babies and Secure Attachment’ and ‘Focused Couple Therapy: An Attachment-Based Approach’. As a Childminder, between 2013 and 2015 I completed the following trainings with Dudley Council and Educare: Language and Play, Promoting Behaviour, Child Protection Intermediate, Safeguarding PANTS Campaign, Data Protection, Business Training, Paediatric First Aid, Surestart, The Nurturing Programme and Level 2 Food Hygiene.

My Availability

I am available for evening babysitting within your home. I will have my wonderfully social 5 year boy in tow. He makes an excellent playmate.
