About Me

Hi, my name is Sophie and i am currently on maternity leave with a baby girl aged 6 months called Harper. I am looking to go back to work full time or part time happy to start when the suitable family are ready for me!

I am a qualified level 3 Early Years practitioner with 3 years experience within childcare. Prior to this I have a twin brother and sister who I was very involved with when they were babies, my brother is autistic so I have grown to understand his level of care and how to engage with him to meet his needs. Whilst at my nursery setting I have been given the role as manager when my manager has been away or on holiday. This has given me a great insight into running and managing a setting with over 20 children and multiple staff dealing with the day to day running of the setting, interacting with children staff and parents and dealing with any medication or singing off incident forms. I have a good core understanding of the EYFS and writing reports on children to outline their key skills and area for improvements. The steps taken after this are about excelling the children through games, activities and group sessions. My manager would often put me in charge of arts and crafts after excelling in this area of play.

Whilst at work I also did a nanny job for 16 months every Friday and sometimes on weekdays or weekends as and when needed for a little boy was had just turned 1. It has given me experience to work independently and out of the nursery putting all of my knowledge into practice. During this time I have grown to know the family and form a bond whereby I’m very flexible to suit their needs. I would also look after other children from the setting but this would be when other members of staff were ill and unable to do their arranged days.
During my time at the nursery a fell pregnant and currently have a beautiful baby girl aged 6 months. After falling in love with her it made me dead set on staying within childcare helping to look after and develop children as well as my own. In terms of going back to work and practicality I was looking to find babysitting/nanny job in hope of bringing my 6 month old baby girl with me, she is very well behaved, patient and easily pleased, she loves exploring with other children and is keen to make some new friends, big or little!! I would be willing to offer childcare at a reduced rate if it meant I was avoiding childcare costs of my own. If this was no preferred I could look into finding child care in order to be available.

My Experience

Not only am I level 3 qualified with 3 years experience in and out of a nursery setting with private weekly arrangements, I have also attended a 12 Hour pediatric first aid course with certificate and a Safeguarding children and young people course with certificate. The best quality about me that I can offer you is being a mother; it has filled me with love and care on a whole new level but it has also taught me a lot about the struggles that come with it. My aim is to help other parents in any way I can whilst continuing to do what I love and do best.

I have experience with babies from newborn (my own baby) and professional experience with children from 10 months up to the age of 4 (nursery setting)

As a childcare provider in and out of a nursery setting it is important to provide a solid routine with a variety of learning resources, games, toys and arts and crafts whilst providing them with an understanding of the world by exploring with healthy eating, road knowledge, stranger danger and everyday skills which are important.

I like to implement my knowledge of the EYFS whether and whenever possible as i feel this gives good structure for a child's learning and my own practice.
