My Summary
About Me
I'm Joss. I am caring, patient, and empathetic, and I understand the needs of children from birth to teens. I possess extensive knowledge of child attachment and how to foster positive relationships between children and adults. I am a strong advocate for creating safe spaces for children.
I have 18 plus years of experience working with children and families as a Nursery Teacher, Manny Support worker (working with families with severe needs) and with children who have mental health issues due to being in traumatic environments.
I have extensive experience working with babies, toddlers, and teenagers. I'm also qualified and hold an up-to-date DBS, up-to-date safeguarding training, and a current first aid certificate. Additionally, I won the UK Nanny Of The Year Award in June 2022 and the National Diversity Award in 2019 for being a positive male role model, among other accolades.
I have a sensitive and heartfelt approach towards working with children ( I'm as soft as wool. I'm big on expression and emotion. And that's something I advocate for, especially for men and children. I enjoy helping children learn to recognise and manage their feelings. I call them ( big emotions). I also have two younger brothers, which has impacted my career choice and understanding of children.
Over the last 18 years, I have gained knowledge and a wide range of experiences as an Early Years Practitioner and a Nanny/manny, working in various settings as a Nursery Manager, Room Leader, and Early Years Practitioner. I have been a Nanny/manny, alongside fulfilling my other roles, for several different families on a full-time and part-time basis.
I am now a full-time nanny and work for several different families at any given time, caring for children as young as three weeks old. I offer high-standard, child-led, and heartfelt childcare. They are helping families find balance and nurturing the minds of these little ones, who will be the next generation. My approach is also trauma-informed.
As for childcare... Jossy Care offers a temporary, ad hoc service, including nannying, babysitting, travel care, maternity care, and more, along with support for parents. I offer this service all over the UK.
We are safeguarding / Settling Steps = CONSULTATION.
SAFEGUARDING is paramount for us. ( All Zoom calls are recorded.) The consultation process incurs a fee at the booking stage during the initial Zoom meeting.
1. Zoom Call with parent/parents.
2. Zoom call again with children/ child ( story time or child-led interview, depending on age.
3. Playdate in your local park or coffee shop that the child is familiar with
4. Playdate at home.
5. Small or big settling in, depending on the child...
Only after that will Jossy Care be able to be BOOKED for childcare...
It's all based on whether it all goes well and if we are all aligned and the energy is right. And IF the CHILD CHOOSES ME.
Jossy Care initiates consultations at a one-of-rate, and settling periods for all new families are up to two weeks, depending on the child and family. We will discuss at the initial meeting how to make the transition of a new carer coming into their home as smooth as possible.
The process of settling in is intended to bridge the gap for the child between home care and that of a stranger caring for them in their home. We are aware that all children respond differently,
Some children embrace this new experience with an enthusiasm that can leave them feeling confident and comfortable. It should help a child to become accustomed to Jossy Care and form an attachment, as we will be with them for much of the time. Without even realising, this is the first step we take in following our ethos, which is to give a child a choice. “The key to giving children choices is first to decide what choices you will allow them to make”.
My Experience
I possess extensive knowledge on child attachment, weaning, sleep routines, potty training, and how to build positive relationships between children and adults.
I also travel with families and have worked in numerous countries as a travel manager, including Saudi Arabia, Antigua, and Switzerland, among others. I love learning about new cultures and being in new environments with children, where we explore, swim, and adapt to the surroundings.
Being a male childcare specialist is excellent. I may be the last man standing lol. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. It's moulded me into a heart-warming, kind, and caring individual.
This is more than work or childcare. I genuinely love helping families find balance, promoting positive change, and having fun at the same time.
I have a blog focused on children and parenting, showcasing my passion for child development and positive parenting. On the 21st of September 2019, I won a “National Diversity Award” for being a positive role model, which was aired on ITV London. I have also been featured on the BBC for my work, ITV, and interviewed on various podcasts and blogs around childcare, mental health and how I put love into what I do ( a mini documentary ), as well as the Hackney Gazette, Sun Newspaper, Time Out Radio and various radio stations and social media platforms.
I am committed to doing the best for the families and children that I work alongside, with sole focus on the child’s wellbeing and personal and social development. I constantly keep in mind that what I do can have a long-term or short-term effect on the children in my care. I always work within legislation to safeguard myself and them, staying grounded and child-focused at all times when working.
I'm not sure if it’s a hobby, but I am a bit of a chef, and I love to read, write poetry, and also go for walks and sightsee, as well as attend art shows and explore the world's numerous museums and countries. I also have a season ticket for Arsenal football club with my family (heartbreaking, I know )
I am registered self-employed. I pay my taxes, and that is reflected in the amount I charge, both on and off-site. iI also only work for families, long-term temp or short-term temp, adhoc, babysitting and travel care. I do not offer full-time childcare.
I'm Dyslexic, so please expect mistakes.

For as long as I’ve known this man he has always had a caring and loving nature. He has always been good with children of all ages and he is the definition of doing something that you truly love. Anything this man does is from the heart, he will love and protect your children as if they are his own. He will teach them right from wrong at all times in a manner no parent can fault and a lot of parents can learn from. Having an exceptional work ethic and mindset ready to apply to any profession; the childcare industry are lucky to have Joss. If he doesn’t deserve the award and even more than I don’t know who does.
