About Us
Seedlings Kindergarten is a small group of up to 8 children aged between 2 to 6 years old, run by Katie Harley, a qualified Steiner Waldorf teacher with many years experience of working within early years. The group takes place in a beautiful converted church hall, in the village of Trowse, just south of the centre of Norwich.
Seedlings Kindergarten fosters a warm and caring, home from home atmosphere, where children of mixed ages are encouraged to play in a creative and imaginative way with simple toys made from natural materials. The Steiner Waldorf philosophy of education believes that young children, when provided with a rich and nourishing environment, will develop healthily at their own pace, without the need for formal teaching or testing. Each child is valued for their uniqueness, supported on their individual journey through life, and encouraged to reach their full potential in a nurturing and unhurried way.

Our Fees
- Childcare from £24.00 per morning
- Childcare from £14.00 per afternoon
- Childcare from £36.00 per day
- Childcare from £144.00 per week
- Childcare from £600.00 per month
Kindergarten morning sessions (9am till 1pm):
£24.00 for 5+ yr olds / £32.00 for 3-5 yr olds / £40.00 for 2-3 yr olds
Kindergarten afternoon sessions (1pm till 3pm):
£6.00 per hour for 5+ yr olds / £8.00 per hour for 3-5 yr olds / £10.00 per hr for 2-3yr olds
Government funded places are available for all 3 and 4 year olds for up to 15 hours per week
Extended funding for 30 hours per week and funding for 2 year olds is also available for families, subject to eligibility
Seedlings Parent and Child Group (Fridays 10am till 12am):
£8.00 per session for 1 adult and 1 child / £10.00 per session for 1 adult and 2 children
Free for sibling babies under 1 year

Seedlings Kindergarten is wonderful!
My son attended from 2016 to 2020 starting when he was 2 and ’graduating’ at age 6. My daughter has attended since she was 2 in 2017 and is due to ‘graduate’ next year when she’ll be 6.
The Kindergarten is in a beautiful setting in a specially converted barn; the inside space is carefully laid out and the lovely garden play area has a sandpit, mudpit, willow hut and a playhouse as well as plenty of outdoor toys.
Both my children have been very happy at Seedlings. They have really benefited from Katie’s warm and nurturing presence and the routine of free play, art and craft, circle time and snack time all revolving around the seasons. It is always a joy for me to hear them singing the songs and re-telling stories at home and to hear about the fun they had with the other children.
The children are also engaged in tidying away the toys daily and helping with food preparation for the many festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as Katie has gently guided them in learning to contribute to the group in an age appropriate way.
I feel very fortunate that my children have had this rare opportunity to grow and thrive in such a nurturing environment led by Katie who is totally dedicated to providing the best possible experience for the children.

Seedling is really like a home from home setting. Wonderful indoor space set up with a range of natural toys to encourage learning through play. Every day follows a rhythm, with playtime, songs and story time, encouraging imagination. This has helped my daughter blossom from a sensitive introvert in a short time. She comes home singing songs and happy each day. She loves outdoor play in the secure garden, and the homemade snack they have each day, and that they can help prepare. Childhood as it should be, and as a secondry school teacher I know Seedlings is helping develop the skills my daughter really needs to be happy and succeed.

I feel very fortunate to have found Katie so early on in my daughters educational journey. Seedlings provides a safe, beautiful and nurturing environment with all the care and support you could wish for. My daughter has always been very happy and content with her time at Seedlings. Katie is very kind and approachable. I highly recommend her.

Both my kids went to Seedlings Steiner kindergarten.
We chose Katie’s group because we felt she provided the right amount of nourishment & care along with the freedom to explore & develop the individual nature of the child.
The setting is beautifully designed, all elements creating a gentle, happy and relaxing environment for the children. There’s lots of singing, role play, craft, cooking & outdoor exploration to keep them excited.
Katie is a calm and kind teacher providing great guidance for her group and teaching valuables lessons about nature, relationships to one another and the environment.
