I am a 26 year old book-worm with a passion for equality and emotional well-being. I love to be silly and start a spontaneous dance party as much as I love the quiet, meaningful moments in life. Theatre, (especially musical-theatre), makes me happier than most things. I am hugely family-orientated and understand the immense value of family and the love shared between you. As well as a nanny, I am also an aspiring writer and love to spend my free-time working on a rhyming children's book or a spooky, YA novel.
There is so much I love about working with children. As the eldest of 5 I have naturally taken a nanny-like role my whole life and found there is just as much to learn from the young as there is you can teach. I love the silliness, the curiosity, the humour, the moment when something clicks inside them and they've all at once learned a new skill. I feel very privileged to be in the line of work I am.
Furthermore, I am very conscious of the risks in entering other people’s homes right now. I would like to assure you that I have always and continue to take the pandemic extremely seriously. I have always taken care to practise excellent hygiene, especially around children, however, I’d like to also assure you that I do not meet with anyone outside of my household, all of whom work from home and make every effort to follow the guidelines and protect themselves and others as much as possible.
My Experience
I have a fantastic amount of experience working across a variety of different childcare roles over the last 8 years. To give you a brief outline of my experience; My first position was voluntary, mentoring teenagers who suffered with poor social, emotional and mental health.
I was then offered a full-time position working at West Suffolk College as a learning support assistant to students with a diverse range of additional needs.
I later moved to Cambridge where I earned two childcare positions. One as a leader of a before and after-school setting, (full time during school holidays), and the other as a teaching assistant to students between the ages of 5 and 9.
I have worked as a temporary nanny in London for 2 years. Using the time in between to focus on writing fiction for children.
I recently applied for a voluntary position at a local women's shelter, supporting the children who have had to take refuge in their residential setting. Unfortunately, this was not possible due to the current pandemic. However, I am in the process of working out a way to potentially help remotely, for instance, through recording myself reading a children’s book to be played to the children at their leisure.
I am so extremely passionate about delivering excellent childcare and do not underestimate the importance of such a role
