About Me

I am a patient person who been looking after babies and toddlers since I was 16 and onwards, since then I was interested in looking after a baby.
I’m a very reserved and dedicated university student and I have finished my BA (Hons) Early Childhood and Special Education. I am a play worker for young children who have a variation of disabilities but have been working around those with autism mainly. I have worked as a teaching assistant for a week but lack of funding has affected me working. I do want to work on the side. I have insights of baby sitting as I have took care of my younger cousins and my younger relatives for a while. I have a cousin with autism and another one who has cerebral palsy back home in Bangladesh. So these two have been an inspiration. I love working with children as it’s always been something I love to do since I was younger. These assets have given me the rightful tools to support children and ensure that children are protected from all harm. Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. Age range: 0-12, open to baby sit neurotypical (non SEN) children.

My Experience

During my time as a university student, these are the following modules that gave me a purpose to consider the Masters in Special Educational Needs. ‘Children with Additional and Health Needs’ enlightened my understanding to guide me the basics of understanding SEN and variety of needs in different fields. The module indicated clear breakdowns on the challenges of SEN and learn how it can be tackled. ‘Inclusion and Diversity in the Early Years’ taught me the pedagogy of inclusion and how could current approaches to inclusion influence and set an impact on children’s learning. I am focusing immensely on my dissertation based on a small-scale exploration of Early Years Practitioners perspectives on the transitional strategies implemented to support children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders [ASD]. The purpose of choosing this as my dissertation topic enables to widen my knowledge on the missing gaps and finding out how practitioners support children’s voice through different transitional strategies, especially in children with ASD.

Being a Teaching Assistant in a Special Needs School helped me broaden my perspective on the children’s safety, well-being and many more. I am also a part-time playworker at the Hayward Adventure playground, where I am able to build my problem-solving skills, knowledge and demonstrating inclusive practice. Hayward Adventure Playground facilities support for children who have various additional needs, such as Global Developmental Delay [GDD], Cerebral Palsy [CP] and other special needs. My current role taught me the importance of protecting children from danger and allowing children to express themselves freely. I have done a month of volunteering with a charity named Hackney Pirates, who supported children who had a lower ability in their literacy, such as reading and writing. This volunteering experience allowed me to enhance and express my own academic, reading and writing skills to children. Hackney Pirates demonstrates learning through a mosaic, and creative approach within the children’s level to ensure positive rapport is recognised.

I was a support worker at Rhyl Primary School, where I was able to see children at a holistic level and seeing how children develop and progress during learning. I was supporting children in the Reception class and had the chance to support a child with learning needs for a short time. This experience had inspired me to apply to the masters to demonstrate the importance of inclusive practice in the SEN field and to make an impact on children’s learning.
