About Me
Hi! I'm Rachel from Mini Childcare, a home from home setting that focuses on outdoor learning through play. I live with my two children, a 10 year old boy and an 8 year old girl, and our dog Maple.
Since having my first child, I've loved watching him grow, learn and develop his skills. After having my second, I decided that teaching at secondary school wasn't working for me or my family. I made the decision to leave my job and train as a childminder, and haven't looked back!
I love taking children out for learning adventures with trips to the park, nature reserves, beach, soft play, library, play groups, museum, to the woods, on lots of adventures. I love to see them learn and enjoy new experiences.
My Experience
I am now in my 7th year of childminding and love it. Over this time I have had a variety of children all with differnt interests, needs and dietary requirements. I regularly attend training sessions that fit with the needs of the curriculum, children's interests and updated policies.
Prior to childminding I taught at secondary level for over ten years, mainly food technology therefore I have plenty of experience of nutrition, food preparation, food hygiene, and helping different children learn. I have experience of allergies, and live in a peanut free house (we have a severe peanut allergy in our family). With my experience, I cook healthy meals and snacks with the children in line with the updated EYFS nutritional guidance set out by the UK government in September 2025.
My Qualifications
I completed the pre-registration training with Lancashire County Council.
I have up to date paediatric first aid, food hygiene, and safeguarding training. Also, I regularly attend webinars to extend my knowledge.
My Availability
(May 2026) I currently have space available for September start due to child moving on to school.
My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
Daily rate: £57 between 7.30am and 5.30pm.
Earlier starts can be arranged.
