My Summary

My Experience

have worked in childcare for 15 years. During my time I have gained great knowledge and experience of working with children aged between 0-5. I have also gained a lot of experience in leadership roles within nursery settings. I pride myself on being a confident and good role model for the children i care for. In my current setting I work with pre school children aged 2.5-5, I am confident using the HGIOELIC, GIRFEC, curriculum for excellence, my world outdoors and local authority planning documents to support my practice. I am confident that in my role I can offer the children daily indoor and outdoor experiences and help them thrive with a learn through play and experience attitude! I value childrens choices and independence and promote this through my practice and planning experiences. I promote a heuristic approach to indoor areas and give the children the freedom to risk asses their own play outdoors whether it be in the garden with loose parts etc or one of the nature nurture classes I offer. I am confident, bubbly and professional and I pride myself on building great relationships with children and parents. I was nominated and runner up for the personality of the year award at the NMT awards 2017.
I am confident in all planning and individual childrens observations using online learning journals and local planning framework.
I started at viewforth early years centre in January 2019 as a pupil support assistant I supported a child with ASD I supported him with his day-day needs in the centre ie meals,pull-up changing, supporting him with jacket and wellies. encouraging him to take part in group activities and when I know the child isn't coping to well I will take them to the sensory room which gives them some space to explore and relax. I also communicate with the key worker and my senior member of staff on a daily basis regarding the child aswell aswell as daily feedback to the parents and offering continuous support, my contract was then extended to continue working as a pupil support assistant with another child. I am qualified in svq level 3 social care in children and young people.
