I have a very calm and loving personality and create a relaxed environment for children. I a very imaginative and I can connect with them to become a princess, a superhero, have teddy bear tea parties, and goes anywhere their imaginations take them. I am a big explorer and love learning and teaching children about the big wide world for example a trip to the zoo or the farm where they can learn and have fun. I have always loved being around children, children always make me happy when I am around them and for some reason, I am always drawn to them too. I am a big child myself so I am able to be let loose and be myself, I love working with children as I enjoy watching them learn and grow up for example when working at the nursery I was very lucky to watch most of the children grow from 6months old to 5 years old and I was able to watch them take their first steps, say their first words and learning new things until it was time for them to go off to big school, I helped them get ready for the big world and this is the most amazing feeling and very rewarding.
My Experience
Having many friends with children and coming from a very big family I was able to have lots of experience with all ages as I was able to babysit them when needed. I would cook for them, do homework with them, take them to the local park, bake with them and play games with them according to their ages. I would also make sure that they are put into bed and read stories to them.
I have 6 years of experience working in a nursery which I love and enjoy so much. I have worked with ages from 6 months to 5 years old but I was based in the baby room for 6 months to 3 years old. No two days are the same when you’re with small children. When working at the nursery I base the day around each child home routine, Each baby has a separate routine and I ensure I know my key child when they start knowing what time they go to sleep and how they have their food/bottle this makes it easier for me and when its bedtime I go off with them into our sleep room, get their stuff out of their baskets and rock or pat them to sleep. The day is divided up into meals, play, and rests, and always try to fit in a trip outside to the garden so that the children get some fresh air. Throughout the day we do regular nappy checks and changes, We have snack time and milk time, All the meals are prepared by a chef however when the chef needed a bit of support either myself or another staff would give him a hand with the food. As the day goes on we fill our day with lots of play and messy activities with the children, teaching them through play and recording what they do on observation sheets, on what the child did whilst exploring the toys, and a photo taken on the nursery camera and I am responsible for my key children’s observations.
There are rewarding moments throughout the day a baby in my care might make a new sound or take their first step and it’s wonderful. What I also like is that not only are you helping a child develop but you are building up a relationship with the parents as well.
