Harriet, childminder in central Purley.
I'm friendly, reliable and warm person. I am also passionate about children’s well being, as well as providing quality care in a stimulating and enjoyable environment. I’m able to speak to children and adults alike, clearly, and calmly irrespective of the situation. I believe this to be the basis of good communication and promotes understanding and mutual respect. I’m also able to tailor my communication style so that people’s needs, and abilities are respected through valuing their differences.
My Experience
I have had the opportunity to support and work with children in several settings both in a work environment and in private life. For example, in my previous positions as a Health Care Assistant, I worked in a paediatric ward, and key of my duties entailed assisting children with activities of daily living, such as supporting with feeding at mealtimes, devising creative plays to keep them happy, and entertained, reading stories and trying to make the children comfortable and putting a smile on their faces. I also managed to assist children with diverse and challenging needs such as children with behavioural difficulties. I have also had the pleasure of looking after my nephew who has autism for many years, and this has also given me invaluable experience in supporting a child with high care needs.
My Qualifications
Level 3, childminding, it covers the understanding of Early years foundation stage.
