About Me
We are a family of 5, with three gorgeous boys aged 9, 6 and 3.5 years old. Based in Caversham Heights.
My Requirements
We are seeking a (live-out) nanny for our children from 8-6pm for 3 or 4 days a week (between Monday to Thursday).
*Start date Aug/Sept 2025.*
This will be a fixed term contract for 1 year, with a 3 month notice period. There is the possibility of extending it longer for wraparound care around school hours from Sept 2026 however.
Our older two children attend a local school - the Heights Primary. Our youngest child has Down Syndrome and has a variety of therapy needs. The role would include looking after all the children before and after school, doing some school pick ups (not drop offs though) and taking them to their weekly swimming lessons. You would be responsible for all 3 during school holidays (taking them out on fun trips etc), but the key part of the role is caring for our youngest on a day to day basis.
He has daily physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy requirements but also needs enrichment from sensory play, music, trips out and attends some local groups. It may also involve taking him to the odd hospital appointment for us (as he has a lot!).
We are a warm, friendly family and can offer good job security. Our hope is the successful applicant would feel part of our family and be committed to us as our children thrive on routine/consistency. We are a pet and smoke-free household.
Key qualities:
**-Must be reliable, punctual and looking to fulfil the whole term of the role please.**
-Must be keen willing to carry out all therapy and personal care needs for our youngest son (training to be provided).
-Must have a car and a full, clean driving license.
-Must be fit, active and able to keep up with 3 energetic boys, the youngest of whom is non-walking so often needs carrying/lifting around house and in/out of his wheelchair and other equipment (he currently weighs between 12-13kg).
-Must be able to cook and prepare simple meals from scratch eg spaghetti bolognese.
-Will be responsible for children’s laundry and clearing up after their meal times/play (encouraging them to help).
-Must have relevant childcare qualifications including paediatric first aid, safety checks (enhanced DBS) and basic food hygiene skills.
-We will not accept applications from those looking to bring their own children to work.
Extra qualities we are seeking:
-Experience using makaton or having makaton qualifications.
-Ofsted registration.
