About Me

My name is Holly Copping and I am 21 years old. I am in my fourth and final year of studying a one and only course specific to the University of Cumbria; Primary Education (5-11): Inclusion with SEND with QTS.
I have a wide range of experience for my age (see below) and absolutely adore working with children.

My Experience

As a fourth year university student, I have built up a wide range of experience both within the local community, and back home in Essex. Firstly, I have three younger brothers, two of which have additional and special needs. Ever since I was a young child, I have had the day in, day out experiences and have witnessed the challenges they face every day. However, I have learnt how to support them overcome these challenges. I understand the potential strains it can have on a family and how this can impact everyone in the households mental and physical health.

My love for working with children first started when I was in year 10, on a week of work experience. I was put into a lovely year 3 class and from the first day, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. From there, I went onto college to study Children's Play, Learning and Development where over the two years I gained over 750 hours of experience with 0-8 year olds in a wide range of educational settings. With each setting and each age group came a new set of challenges that I learnt to overcome through gaining experience and advise from those already in the field. As well as this, I also volunteered at my local school, working in a class on my spare day for the academic year, gaining an additional 300 hours experience.

In Summer 2021, I gained a wonderful leader position at a Holiday Club run by the YMCA for 5 weeks. The club was funded by the new Marcus Rashford Initiative, where we provided sports, arts and crafts and a range of other activities. Alongside this, children were given a hot meal every day. Leading this club was challenging yet 100% worth it, knowing the difference it made to both children and their families. I then went onto work for School's Out Activities for the last two summers, another holiday club who also provide respite care for children and their families with additional needs.

My Qualifications

I am currently in my fourth year at the University of Cumbria studying the only course of its type on the country, Primary Education (5-11): Inclusion with SEND with QTS.
