Julie
Nanny in Edinburgh (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Julie,
I am a 40 years old French Montessori Nanny and Art Teacher for young children. I'm in Scotland since 2021, and fluent in English.
I'm passionate about my job; I love to help children to develop their curiosity and learn early life skills. I respect them by giving them boundaries, listening to them and having fun, and sometimes just sharing time in silence. Ecology, good nutrition, home cooking and art activities are very important to me.
Finding parents who share similar interests and values and are ready to go in the same direction is essential.
I have a curious mind, and I would love the chance to meet an interesting family who similarly wants to learn and help their children develop an inquisitive outlook.
I don't drive, and I'm eligible to free-tax childcare, which allow families to have 20% off my salary.

My Experience
I've been working as a Montessori Nanny and Art Teacher for over 10 years now. Prior to this I primarily worked in the jewellery industry which took me all around the world, building up my life experiences.
I have had really positive experiences as a Nanny, with families appreciating my passion and enthusiasm for helping their children develop. I generally work with one family at a time, preferring to nurture a bond with the children and a friendship with the parents.
I know how to react quickly with children and how to deal with awkward or tricky situations. I'm the first of a very large family, so inherently had a good starting base for my work, before developing a professional interest.
My Qualifications
I studied sewing for 4 years and then worked as a costume designer for theatre companies before switching to the jewellery industry. This was very rewarding but as the company was sold, I had to find another job. It's totally by chance that I started working with children, but I was hooked right away.
I decided to use my professional skills to undertake art activities with children in collaboration with a Montessori School and subsequently combined this with working as a Nanny. I haven't stopped since.
My Availability
Ideally I'd like to work 4 days per week, but I'm open to everything.

Julie provided exceptionally attentive, caring, and fun care for my 10yo for the day while I was in Edinburgh for a work trip. It made it a fun adventure for us both. Julie was excellent with reaching out in advance and planning a day that would suit my sons needs, taking care to reflect his and tune into his neurodiverse needs. I felt so reassured when speaking with her over the phone and then when we met in person, and my son was immediately comfortable and had a wonderful day. I will certainly look to book with Julie again in the future.

We worked with Julie for a few months from when our son was 7 month old until he started nursery after his 1st birthday.
Julie has been such a great addition to the family. She communicates well and was absolutely brilliant with our son. Lots of outdoor activities and fun age appropriate games at home. She helped us a lot with the weaning process and also was great at suggesting and preparing meals for our little one. She also came along on a work trip for us and was a great help during travel and while we were away taking complete care of all of our sons needs. She has been a great ear for any concerns we've had and had such a great source of knowledge on how to manage teething and trouble with napping.
We've not worked with any other nannies but she exceeded any expectations we've had for working with a nanny and has been an absolute gem.

I knew as soon as we exchanged messages I could trust her. The kids loved spending the day with her, there was regular contact and lots of outdoor play. couldn't have asked for more and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. Thank you Julie ❤️
