Hi, I’m Julie,
I am a 37 years old English speaking French Montessori Nanny and Art Teacher for young children.
I'm passionate about my job; I love to help children to develop their curiosity and learn early life skills. I respect them by giving them boundaries, listening to them and having fun, and sometimes just sharing time in silence. Ecology, good nutrition, home cooking and art activities are very important to me.
Finding parents who share similar interests and values and are ready to go in the same direction is essential.
I have a curious mind, and I would love the chance to meet an interesting family who similarly wants to learn and help their children develop an inquisitive outlook.
I live in the West-End of Aberdeen and would prefer to work with local families. I don't drive.

My Experience
I've been working as a Montessori Nanny and Art Teacher for over 9 years now. Prior to this I primarily worked in the jewellery industry which took me all around the world, building up my life experiences.
I have had really positive experiences as a Nanny, with families appreciating my passion and enthusiasm for helping their children develop. I generally work with one family at a time, preferring to nurture a bond with the children and a friendship with the parents.
I know how to react quickly with children and how to deal with awkward or tricky situations. I'm the first of a very large family, so inherently had a good starting base for my work, before developing a professional interest.
My Qualifications
I studied sewing for 4 years and then worked as a costume designer for theatre companies before switching to the jewellery industry. This was very rewarding but sadly the company I worked for was sold, so I started helping some of my friends by babysitting their children. I discovered how happy I was in their company.
I decided to use my professional skills to undertake art activities with children in collaboration with a Montessori School and subsequently combined this with working as a Nanny. I haven't stopped since!
My Availability
My current family is going to leave UK for another country, therefore I am looking for a new family to work with.
I'm still working with them Monday to Thursday until June 2024.

Julie recently babysat for my two children over the course of an evening. Julie was highly approachable in the run up to the booking and was readily contactable, meaning that organising the details for the booking was easy.
Julie spoke to me beforehand to find out more about my children and what they like doing. She arrived armed with a bag full or arts and crafts and both kids had a fantastic time. “Best babysitter ever” was their verdict.

Julie has babysat for my daughter from when she was about 1 year of age. She communicated with our daughter and helped her to feel comfortable as if treating her like an equal, while also being the responsible adult. She was very patient and kind with her even though it took our daughter time to adjust to a new person. She was also playful and throughtful with our daughter, genuinely interested in encouraging her to explore and learn. My daughter loves to spend time with her. Julie is also very helpful with us. She gives us suggestions when we ask for her opinion, or asks about my preferences and respects them. She is also great to talk to :)
