About Me

UPDATE:
I am now a mother to an easygoing 1 year old and so my availability depends on finding the right situation. I can do two half days without my baby, or ideally, a role where my baby can come too. We did this for a few months and I can provide a reference from the family who benefited from having a little one around.

FOREST SCHOOL LEADER/ SEN/SEMH/BESD EXPERIENCED PRIMARY TRAINED TEACHER AND YOUTH WORKER, available for nannying /childcare/ home schooling/ tutoring. OFSTED REGISTERED.

Having experienced a live in babysitter myself when I was a young child, I fully appreciate the value that nanny's bring to a family- I am still in contact with the woman who cared for myself and my brother, 30+ years on. The key values I can look back on and recognise in her, have helped establish how I now support children in my care; with respect, harnessing honesty and independence while creating a sense of fun and always, nurture and nourishment. I have mainly always worked with children in some way and take much pleasure from being in the company of children and participating in their play and development.
I am personally most happy when engaged in energetic outdoor activities and being in and with nature; these are passions I hope I can bring to a family. I am a reliable and consistent yet fun and am very adaptable to meet the needs and interests of each child as an individual. As a very practical, efficient person, I would thrive in a busy household where I can be of use. I take pride in my employment and need to feel a sense of purpose and value. Having worked in community kitchens and social eating enterprises, I am happy to cook nutritious meals from scratch for, or even better, alongside, the children in my care.

My Experience

I have spent the majority of my professional life empowering children and young people in some capacity, primarily within education. It is a cliche but true to say, I love children and have a natural ability to harness their curiosity and creativity. I became disenfranchised with mainstream education and for the last past 10 years have worked within alternative settings. Most recently, I worked as the Senior Pastoral Tutor at an outdoors school for KS2 children requiring intervention for ASD/ SEMH support, where I was able to work in my preferred more nurturing, slower paced approach. In this role I developed skills in outdoor crafts and learning from nature; interests I am keen to share.
As a qualified teacher and youth worker, my experience ranges from working in nurseries to post-16 provision, often with vulnerable, challenging or disadvantaged children and young people. I would be more than happy to use my skills and experiences to support the learning of any child I cared for. I worked as a family support worker with families of children and young people with, sensory integration challenges, PMLD and palliative care needs including in home, hospital and school settings.
I now wish to use my skills to support children within their family unit, in a more holistic way. My professional journey has led me through many experiences with children and I am looking forward to supporting children and their families in a truly therapeutic and meaningful way. This may be with or without my new sidekick with me, depending on circumstances!
