My Summary

My Experience

I hold a BA (Hons) Childhood Studies degree from Leeds Metropolitan University. The quality of the course has provided me with an excellent platform where I can develop what I had learnt during those 3 years into my career working with children and develop into an ‘outstanding’ Care Worker. During my second year at University I carried out my work placement at Bradford Royal Infirmary, as a Play worker. During my time there I gained relevant experience working with children ages 0-15 years. Use of 'distraction play' before and after surgery, executed through bedside play and within the playroom, and spent time crafting and creating wall displays with the children for the ward, creating a pleasant environment during their stay.


After I completed my degree, I became a Nursery Assistant at Treetops Nurseries Ltd, Leeds. My role during my time at this nursery included; Observations and evaluations of the Children's Personal, Social, Intellectual and Emotional development by following the EYFS framework to the highest standards; Assisted children with personal care tasks during shift with colleagues for safeguarding; Promoted safeguarding, health and safety as appropriate and maintained a safe, clean environment; Prepared healthy food and served meals and refreshments to children; Read to children, supporting literacy development, taught arts and crafts and encouraged creativity and imaginative play.


As well as my degree, I have recently passed a variety of courses, which are detailed below in my qualifications section. These courses have helped me develop a detailed understanding of behaviour that challenges in children and young people, including how such behaviour can be assessed and techniques that can help reduce the effects of behaviour that challenges, as well as an understanding of SEND and learning.
