About Me
Hi there, I am 26 and love working with Children and families -particularly in home settings!
I am an approachable, gentle, kind and positive character and believe that practicing empathy is really important for supporting children's wellbeing. I also understand that keeping boundaries can help children to feel safe. I am passionate about giving children audible space for children to be heard and physical space where children can experience wonder and engage in creative processes. I know that building safe, trusting relationships with others is really important for supporting a child's wellbeing & development and I would love to be able to offer this for children.
A lot of my approach to working with children has been influenced by Montessori values as well as therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
I have a keen interest and good understanding in the areas of food, nutrition, health & lifestyle and enjoy cooking creatively from scratch with whatever ingredients are in the kitchen cupboard!
I love walks in nature (I have a fun-loving spaniel who gets me out exploring beautiful parts of nature!). I love doing any practical tasks that benefit others and always make it my mission to find joy even in the most mundane of tasks!
Alongside my work for families I work self-employed as a part-time Artist (selling my paintings and prints) and Piano-teacher (Teaching via Zoom).
My Experience
I have experience working with children in a wide variety of settings including schools, charitable organisations, play groups, family homes, overseas work in children's homes, ALN schools and a Riding school for Children with Disabilities. I have given regular practical support to families in complex/challenging living situations and have worked closely with children who have experienced family bereavement & trauma.
I have a degree in Children and Family Work and for the past year I have had a very idyllic job of working in the middle of the beautiful countryside as a Nanny for 2-year-old twins who I absolutely love however I have recently re-located to Cardiff (with the amazing opportunity to purchase my first home).
I have been nannying under-5-year-olds since January 2022.
I have an understanding of supporting children's social, emotional & mental wellbeing; I have engaged in both play and art therapy introductory training days. I have been trained in safeguarding and am also paediatric First-aid trained (as of Jan 2022).
I have just completed the PACEY home-based childcare qualification. Once my certificate comes through, I will be able to apply for registration with CIW so that families in wales can benefit from tax-free childcare if eligible.
I would be looking for work 3 days week.
