Hi! My name’s Emma and I work as a science communicator, developing and delivering lots of science workshops and clubs to primary school children across Edinburgh. I have worked with children and young people for 8 years and really enjoy getting to know them all and being part of their journey growing up. I am creative, fun, and empathetic and basically come up with fun things to do for kids for a living so I have lots of activity ideas! I have worked with children with additional needs throughout this time and have completed a number of different trainings on this. I have a car so would be more than happy to go on trips out too!
If you think I'd be a good fit for your family, I'd be more than happy to arrange a meet+greet in a park or similar to meet in person and get to know you and your children before I babysit :)
My Experience
In my current job I work with hundreds of children every term. Sometimes in a school setting and sometimes in a club setting. I plan fun games and activities and make sure that I provide a comfortable space for everyone that comes. Before this, I worked for an autism charity for 4 years supporting children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18 with autism and other learning disabilities. I have babysat family and friend’s children since I was 16.
My Qualifications
I am a member of the PVG scheme
I have my children and paediatric first aid qualification, as well as outdoor first aid.
I have had autism, adhd, epilepsy, inclusive play, challenging behaviour, and makaton/signalong training in the past.
My Availability
I am mostly available weekday evenings and some weekends. There is a chance I’d be free before school on some days but this would have to be checked on a week by week basis, as it depends on my schedule at work.
