My Experience

Before and during going to university I was an active babysitter for two main families and had other occasional babysitting jobs alongside these. The children ranged from ages 6 to 12 from all different cultural backgrounds. This occurred after school, during the holidays and on the weekends. I cooked basic meals, helped with homework and carried out the bedtime routines - whilst forming a strong relationship with each family. I also volunteered when I was in 6th form to be a mentor to children with Autism and ADHD as they went through their GCSEs- acting as a support system emotionally and with revision and other difficulties they were having. I currently work in a secondary school with children with SEN as a learning support assistant. These children have needs that range from educational needs as well as mental health, emotional and social needs.
