About Me
Hello! I am Jess - teacher, tutor and mum to one gorgeous little boy!
I currently teach part time in a lovely local village primary school. I took the decision to reduce from full time to have greater flexibility with my hours and spend more time with my own little boy.
Reading is a passion of mine and in school I am known for two things - reading and chocolate cake - and I think they go together perfectly! Despite being a teacher, I love to learn and consider myself a lifelong learner.
Having my own child opened my eyes to the world of awe and wonder; that natural desire to learn and to question (sometimes hundreds a day!). It took me a little while to realise that rather than attempt to answer them all, giving my child space to be curious, time to explore and freedom to investigate always resulted in deeper learning and sustained interest than any answer I could give. This approach led me to rethink 'traditional' education practices and instead offer a more holistic experience.
My Experience
I am inspired by play-based learning and the child-centred approach that empowers as well as educates so that children feel heard and valued. I am passionate about helping children learn and grow in whatever way works best for them. Working with me, your child will play active role in their education.
I have over 10 years experience working in primary schools in and around Herefordshire. I have been observed and consistently graded outstanding in my teaching by both Ofsted and senior management. From Reception to Year 6, I have taught across the whole primary age range, including whole class, online, one to one, intervention and SATs boosters. I graduated from the University of Worcester with a first class honours degree and have since gone on to attend and complete many courses as part of my CPD, with a keen interest in maths, reading, outdoor education and children's mental health. I have significant personal and professional experience working with children and adults with SEND, supporting the learner throughout by identifying individual needs and even assisting with the diagnosis process.
Whether you want your child to have a head start over the summer holidays or extra support in a key area of the curriculum, 1:1 tutoring provides personalised, individual opportunities and challenges to build on learning outside of the classroom. Every child is different so I work at the learners own pace and in a way that interests and inspires them in order to make learning enjoyable and memorable. I will also assess the learners progress and development along the way, helping them to meet specific goals or overcome any difficulties. In a relaxed and fun atmosphere I build the learner's self esteem and attitude towards learning, giving them the confidence they need to achieve.
I currently have availability for online tutoring via Zoom, but can offer ad-hoc lessons or childcare when the availability arises.
My Qualifications
I have a first class honours degree in Primary Initial Teacher Education - The University of Worcester.

- Tutoring from £45.00 per hour
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
All fees are inclusive of planning, preparation, resources and worksheets, online content (and in some cases membership) travel time and expenses as well as feedback time to parent/guardian.
