About Me
I currently work for the NHS as an apprentice Speech and Language Therapist. I previously worked in a special needs school. I love working with children because I feel they will keep me young! I am a very energetic and positive person and ensure the children I work with enjoy themselves as well as learning skills to set them up for life. I have a wide range of behaviour management techniques, when necessary, to support children to understand your expectations as well as helping them become well rounded individuals. Outside of my work, I love to read and I also enjoy gardening, including growing my own fruit and vegetables! I would love to do some childminding if the right role becomes available because I want to continue to build my experience further, but mostly because I love working with children!
My Experience
I have completed my Level 3 TA apprenticeship and I am in the process of getting my Speech and Language Therapy degree. I also had the role of Literacy coordinator, which required me to promote and support reading across the school. I have also worked at a nursery with preschool children all the way through to year 6 students. At the secondary school I worked with year 7 to year 14 students all with different learning difficulties. I also have experience with PA hours for a non-verbal, autistic young man (aged 24). I have also completed a level 3 speech and language therapy course as well as a diploma in teaching English as a foreign language.
