About Me
I have been working in childcare for over 25 years with babies, children and teenagers. I was an Ofsted registered Outstanding childminder when my own 3 children were small. I have a first class BA (hons) Fine Art degree and ran successfully art and craft clubs for primary aged children called, ‘Craft Revolution’. I am a registered foster carer for teenagers with Brighton and Hove Council. I have up to date full DBS certificate and up to date Paediatric First Aid certificate. I have experience with autism and other neurodiversity as my own child has autism. I have been working in a PRU in the nurture section with children with SEMH. I am training to be a counsellor. I have completed Level 1 and 2 and begin Level 3 training in September. I specialise in child led, creative play and unconditional positive regard. I am passionate and very knowledgeable about attachment theory and about emotional regulation and my work focuses on supporting children to develop healthy attachment and emotional and mental well being. I believe my strengths lie in my ability to get alongside babies, children and teenagers and attune and listen. I have excellent references for all my childcare roles.
My Experience
I have been a Play Leader of Children’s After School and Holiday Child Care for the charity, The Winchester Project in Camden, a Play Worker for Hackney Council in the city’s Adventure Playgrounds. I am a mother of 3 children who have autism and disabilities. I was an Ofsted rated Outstanding childminder in Brighton for 7 years when my children were young and have been working in a PRU for several years. I ran arts and crafts clubs for primary school children for 7 years. I am a Supported Lodgings foster carer for vulnerable teenagers for Brighton and Hove Council. I have a very laid back, calm, child led approach to being with children and young people. I believe in unconditional positive regard and attachment based care. I have excellent references for all my childcare roles.
