About Me

I am a very creative and imaginative person; my skills range from drawing to sculpture to sewing and I can translate this all into fun activities to do with children depending on their age. I have a huge passion for cooking which has developed since being diagnosed with coeliac disease (which means I can’t eat gluten). This has taught me a lot about nutrition and how to deal with food allergies so I am constantly finding new ways to cook tasty and healthy meals. I'm also comfortable cooking and baking with gluten if needed. I can also bake and I remember helping my mum bake as a fond childhood memory that I would love to continue when nannying and babysitting.
I love the outdoors and don’t mind getting muddy, I’m always looking for new places to go on walks to as I love exploring. I would describe myself as and caring person with everyone’s best interest in mind, if anyone’s not feeling their best I’ll do my best to comfort them and try to help out.

My Experience

Until recently I have worked as an after-school nanny for a family in London with two children ages 6 and 8, through a nannying agency. My roles included after-school pick-up where I could either take the children to a park to play in or to an extracurricular club, like swimming. If we were going straight home we could draw together or do some baking or play games, sometimes I would help them with their homework. I would be cooking dinner for the children every night too. Occasionally, I took the children to a friend's house for a playdate, sometimes I would host a playdate arranged by their parents. During the school holidays, I would nanny for more hours. We would participate in longer activities such as going to watch a film in the cinema or a picnic in a park.
I have also volunteered in a children's weekly after-school art club (Art Explorers) which was based in the local museum and art gallery. I was there to assist the main supervisor, make sure the children had everything they needed, and know how to carry out the art activities. The supervisor came up with the activities and led the sessions. The age range was between 5–12-years and I worked with all the children although the younger children needed more help. Around 10 to 15 children were attending per week. I volunteered in Art Explorers for almost a year. I would have stayed on for longer, but my college attendance hours conflicted with the club in the following year. One of my favorite things from my time volunteering at Art Explorers was being able to see the children develop and grow. I remember our time spent together working out how they could make the ideas they had, and how proud they felt showing their parents at the end of the day. I could see their confidence build over the weeks, seeing my past suggestions making their way into their future projects. Talking to the parents about how excited their children were to come back each week was a very fulfilling experience for me, this gave me a lot of enthusiasm to continue working with children.
I have worked as a babysitter from time to time. One family I babysat for was a neighbor, with two children ages 7 and 9. I would look after them in the evening if their parents were away, make sure they went to bed on time, and read them bedtime stories. On another occasion, I looked after the children of a family friend. Her two children were aged 4 and 7 and I looked after them during the day for a couple of hours at a time. I did drawings with them and played with toys until their mum came home.

My Qualifications

I currently have 2 years' experience in childcare. One of those years was with a nannying agency which has a strict vetting system and lengthy training process. I have completed a DBS check and attended online first aid training.
Outside of childcare, I have graduated from Chelse College of Arts with a First Degree Honours in Fine Art.
