I'm Sam and I'm an Ofsted Registered Childminder (rated Outstanding in my recent inspection ) living in Thames Ditton. I'm married to Ian and we have 2 children of our own; a girl of 19yrs who is currently studying at Portsmouth University & a boy of almost 16yrs.
We are very much an animal loving family who currently have a very friendly a 4yr old lab called Riley and an equally friendly 9mth lab called Margo!
We have also adopted a pair of lop eared rabbits; sisters called Holly & Stanley!
The children learn to be confident around animals, help to care for them and learn to empathise too.
I provide quality childcare in a relaxed, loving and stimulating environment. This allows your child to be cared for on a 1 -1 basis with a 'home from home' feel. I have a good selection of toys & resources for children of all ages both inside and out!
I use basic sign language (Makaton - like Mr Tumble!) to encourage communication and speech with my babies & toddlers as they can understand so much more than they can verbalise. This can also be a good way to minimise frustrations when trying to let the adult/others know what they want/feel.
I also encourage independence, choice & confidence building through free play whilst providing organised activities such as baking, painting, drawing, play dough and story time.
We visit playgroups, parks, soft play areas, Hobbledown, The Magic Gardens @ Hampton Court, walk the dogs & feed the ducks on a regular basis at local parks & Bushey Park meeting new people and making new friends.
I also provide a daily diary for each child so that you can catch up on what your child has been doing, how they've slept, eaten and general behaviour. This means you never need to miss out on their experiences and learning, even when you're not there!
I have 13 years worth of experience working in a school with Nursery/Reception children as an NNEB (Nursery Nurse).
After having my 2 children I decided to have a career change. I wanted to use the skills I had gained from teaching and my passion for helping children to develop and thrive, so childminding seemed the natural choice.
After being a parent myself I have experienced all aspects of looking after children, good & bad!!!!!

I literally don't know where to start with Sam! I first found her for my second child as i was looking for a childminder near my first's nursery for easy pick ups and drop offs and what an absolute gem of a find she was! Since those early days she has not only cared for my second but also third child and first one when needed too. She is an absolutely incredible childminder and the kids have all flourished from being with her. She does lots of activities with them and trips out and they absolutely love the animals and garden. Sam showers them with love and attention and guidance and the kids go in and as well as leave with huge smiles on their faces. I cannot recommend Sam highly enough (she almost makes me want to have another.......but not quite!!) Thank you for everything over the years Sam xx

Aaaah Philippa, what wonderful things to say. Thank you so much!
I have had an absolute ball with all of your munchkins, especially no.3! Her sense of humour and giggles used to regularly have me in stitches!!!
I'm going to miss you all so very much, but I'm sure we'll cross paths again at some point :)
Grace will have a fantastic time at Nursery and will have fun making new friends.
See you all soon
Sam has a fantastic manner, and a genuine enthusiasm for looking after young children. I am amazed by her ability to provide each child with one to one attention, whilst also managing to ensure everything runs to time and everyone is kept organised. She makes it all seem so effortless, which we all know it isn't!

Wow! What a fabulous compliment :) Thank you Sian, I really appreciate it.
Charlie has been an absolute poppet to care for and he has made some lovely friendships with the other children in my setting who he'll move up to big school with :)
It always puts a smile on my face watching the friendships form, coupled with all the laughter and giggles!!
Sam is an absolutely wonderful childminder and both my boys (aged 5 and 2) have enjoyed every second of their time with her. She is incredibly caring and the daily diary that she writes is one of my favourites reads, and a brilliant way to keep in touch with what your child has been up to while you're away. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sam and just hope that i can find someone like her when we move to our new home.

I hope you and the boys have settled well in your new home and they're enjoying their new school and have made some wonderful friendships...they were both an absolute pleasure to care for :)
Take care and all the best
