About Me
I am an experienced, kind, fun and responsible babysitter, aged 19! I am currently a student at York University and live there most of the year, and in the summer months reside near Oxford. I have worked with children a lot the past couple years and I am really excited to again. I am very lucky that my course, English and History, has few contact hours, giving me a flexible timetable where I can easily hold a job. I have chosen for this job to be childcare as it fits with my previous work and I do really enjoy time spent with children. I believe in softer approaches to discipline which so far has never failed me... even with more troublesome children!
I was fortunate to hold the role of head girl at my school, which started my experience of communicating with and being responsible for children of a younger age. Since then I have sought out jobs that involve these interactions as not only is it something I enjoy, but something I understand to be very important.
I am very happy to come and meet parents and children before agreements are made - as I understand how finding the right fit for your kids is important.
My Experience
I have worked in multiple roles with children that have helped me get training, experience, and a love for that kind of work!
My work at the Bushcraft Company is certainly where I got the best experience - and this is where I received my DBS check, first aid training, food safety and hygiene certificate and extensive training. This was an amazing job in which I was personally responsible for children from ages 5-18, and was the perfect opportunity to be fun and kind while also ensuring safety. I engaged in lots of one on one pastoral care whenever issues had arisen and seemed to go down well with the kids! I have held two jobs of this kind, and this type of 24 hour, 5 days a week care aided by extensive training on how to give it has left me feeling very comfortable and experienced around children.
I have had a babysitting job for three boys over the last few months through this site, and have done some babysitting before for many family friends. The families I went to most had children aged 2, 6, 9 and 12. Here I really got a feel for how different ages and personalities respond to different types of care. I prefer this kind of arrangement where I return and really get to know the kids.
