Elizab
Private Tutor in London: Hammersmith And Fulham (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
As someone who has lived in the USA and abroad in Taiwan, Germany, and Poland, I've developed a deep appreciation for how different cultures approach learning and education. This international perspective shapes my tutoring philosophy: every student can learn anything when we honour their unique way of connecting with knowledge, an approach shaped by their personal experiences and background.
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree of Chemistry at university with plans to study Law, I bring both analytical rigour and creative thinking to my teaching. My own academic experience through the International Baccalaureate programme taught me that the best learning happens when we draw connections across disciplines. History and English remain my favourite subjects—I'm fascinated by how economic shifts, wars, and political upheaval reveal the complex patterns of human decision-making, while language and literature give voice to the stories often lost in historical narratives. This love of interpretation and analysis informs how I help students think critically across all subjects.
Beyond academics, I'm drawn to pursuits that require discipline and artistry: ballet, tennis, swimming, classical music, cooking, and visual arts. These interests allow me to connect with students on multiple levels and bring creative approaches to traditionally challenging subjects.
Fluent in both Mandarin and English, I offer tailored tutoring for primary school students, those preparing for 11+ exams, and A-level candidates. Whether we're working through complex concepts or building foundational skills, my goal is to help students discover their own confidence and curiosity.
My Experience
As the oldest of four children in an Asian-Arab household, I understand the importance of strong family values and cultural sensitivity in education. With a ten-year age gap to my youngest sibling, I've gained hands-on experience working with children across all developmental stages. My early commitment to childcare began through volunteer babysitting and preschool services with my Girl Scout Troops. In the past few years, I have added additional nannying and au pair experience to my CV, which I am happy to share upon request.
I have been tutoring students since age 15, working with a diverse range of learners: international students adjusting to new curricula, students catching up with their schoolwork, and students with special needs, including autism, dyslexia, and Down syndrome. I also have experience working as a live-in tutor to three boys (ages 8-14) in Brandenburg, Germany. My students have ranged from age 2 to 17, giving me insight into age-appropriate teaching methods across different developmental stages.
I offer tutoring in English (both as a first and second language), history and social sciences, natural sciences, and general homework support for core subjects.
