About Me
My passion for working with children has helped me in relating with and engaging children that have been in my care. I see myself as a caring, patient as well as well as empathic listener and this has also been the feedback from family members, friends and colleagues. Having worked as a volunteer care assistant these attributes have also been quite important in my role of caring for vulnerable clients.
My Experience
Over the years I have been the go-to babysitter for various family members and family friends. A year ago, I was staying with my elder sister, who has a baby boy whom I baby-sat whenever I was not studying. I was quite involved in the practicalities of his everyday care during this period and found this enjoyable and rewarding, thereby forming a close bond with my nephew. I currently stay with my Aunty who has a set of 4 year old twin girls (my toddler cousins). I enjoy looking after them (both the practical care and fun bits). I am very comfortable with attending to their personal care, preparing simple meals for them and engaging them in several activities including structured activities as well as supporting them in becoming more independent.
I have found my numerous experiences of caring for children of various age groups exceedingly rewarding and educational especially being opportune to learn from these young people and my experiences of caring for them. These experiences have helped me become a better version of myself as I have learnt to improve on my strengths and weaknesses as well as tweak my approach to each child to reflect their individuality (this has particularly of great use, working with a set of multiples).
I studied Arts and Drama in the University and consider myself as being creative in my approach to engaging young children, utilizing different conventional and non-conventional approaches including dramatization and role play in order to gain their attention and focus. Furthermore, I can help with their homework and other educational activities including reading to the children (which we can make fun together). I prioritize child safety and well-being in my approach to childcare.
My Qualifications
I possess a university degree in Arts and Drama with a Post graduate Diploma in French. I am multilingual and fluent in both English and French language.
