About Me
My name is Katie. I grew up in Aberdeenshire but have lived in Edinburgh for 20 years. I originally came here to study Cultural Studies. And a year after graduating realised I wanted to be a teacher. I completed my teacher training in 2008 and have been in the classroom ever since.
My Experience
I am a primary school teacher with over a decade of classroom experience. I love teaching children and finding new and exciting ways to help them learn. In my classroom, I see children as individuals who are unique and all learn differently, which means I have numerous strategies when helping a pupil learn. From experience, I have seen what extra tuition can do to help encourage children to reach their potential.
I believe that the relationship a tutor builds with their student is vital to their success. A strong rapport increases the student’s enthusiasm for the subject and invariably increases the effectiveness of lessons.
I will arrive at lessons fully prepared with a variety of learning styles. I can also provide online tuition too through Zoom, using other tools to help with learning too.
My Qualifications
I have a PGDE from Edinburgh University and have been teaching in Edinburgh schools since 2008. I have also had additional training in Support for Learning and Nurture based approaches to learning.
My Availability
As I am a teacher it is generally only evenings and weekends that I am free. However, I don't work on Fridays so I will have extra availability that day.

- Tutoring from £40.00 per hour
Private tuition - £40 an hour
