The Employer

My clients, who run a busy group of companies have an excellent opportunity for an experienced housekeeper to look after their private residence on the west side of Edinburgh. The household comprises my clients and their two young children aged 2 and 4 years. The family currently spends four months each year abroad - usually from January to the end of April and, although this could change in the future, would prefer to pay the successful candidate on the basis of an annualised contract which would mean that they would be paid the same amount across twelve months.

The Role

The successful candidate will require to be fully competent and able to:

Cook good, nourishing family meals
Demonstrate efficiency in washing clothes by hand and by machine
Iron clothes to a high standard
Clean the home to a high degree of cleanliness
Organise the home
Potentially carry out grocery and home shopping/order for home delivery
Carry out light gardening duties (there is an artificial lawn and very few plants!)
Carry out other household tasks and undertake childcare as and when required
Look after the house in the absence of the owners
Languages

English does not have to be spoken at all provided that the first language is either Portugese (particularly Brazilian) or Spanish.

Likes children - may additionally take care of two children aged 2 and 4

Able to use initiative to find better ways to help as part of the family
Must be honest and trustworthy

Requirements

Must be eligible to work within the UK
Have excellent contactable references
Possess or be willing to obtain an up-to-date DBS check
A full, current driving licence would be useful although not essential
Hours of Work

Initially 30 hours per week - 6 hours per day Monday to Friday or could be 5 hours per day, 6 days per week. The family is flexible regarding starting and finishing times - say 9 am to 3 pm or even 2 pm to 8 pm.
