About Me
I have worked with children for 30 years, the latter 16 being as a child therapist and a manager of therapeutic services. I am also a mum of two young children (4 and nearly 7). I have always enjoyed the company of infants and children and this is reflected in the good relationships I am able to develop. I am a warm, grounded, creative, fun individual. I'm calm in challenging situations and able to adapt quickly.
My Experience
During my career I have worked in education, as a Teaching Assistant and as a Primary School Teacher. I have also worked in social care as an Assistant Social Worker and as a Family Worker within multi-disciplinary teams. For the last 16 years I have worked as a Therapist with children and young people, using play as a means to facilitate therapy. I have worked with children from 0 to 19 years old, though most of my experience lies with primary aged children. I also ran my own private counselling service for women during the perinatal period. As a mum of two young children my memory of caring for babies and toddlers is still fresh! My approach to caring for children is based on gentle parenting techniques. I believe that all behavour is communication, and my experience as a therapist and a mum has really helped me to understand what children are trying to communicate, and how I can respond well. I have lots of experience of working with children with additional needs such as Down's Syndrome, ASD, ADHD etc. If I am coming into your home/family then I will be respectful of your style of parenting, and your child(ren's) safety and comfort will be paramount.

My Availability
After school I am available until 5pm depending on how long it takes me to travel home. I may also be available for some evening work but this would be ad hoc.
