About Me

I'm 24. I love listening to music and going for dog walks in my free time. I have a lurcher who is 12 years old and called Amber. I have a passion to work with child or animals (especially dogs). I always wanted to be a vet or paediatric nurse growing up.

My Experience

In year 11 I completed a week of work experience at a private day Nursery which I enjoyed very much and also at King James Academy over the summer working with students.
In September 2021 I started Primary SCITT training through High Force Education. Due to personal reasons I could not complete the course. Therefore working with school aged children I can help further with school work or helping to develop your child further.

Within the course I have worked in EYFS, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5. During this time I have taught various size groups from 1:1 to a full class of 31 students. I taught various lessons in DT, PE, Maths, English, Science, History, Geography and Phonics.

Prior to starting the course I volunteered for a year in a local primary school working with a Year 4/5 class that has a significant amount of SEND children and I particularly enjoyed working 1-1 with a child with autism. This has enabled me to develop a range of strategies to address sensory needs including use of a weighted blanket and fidget toys as well as a visual timetable to support them in the classroom and meet their individual needs. I have also worked with a small group of pupils, who have a wide range of SEND needs, including a child with an EHCP and a pupil with ADHD.

In April 2021 till July 2021, I supported SEND pupils and small groups within the Year 5/6 class, with a particular focus on supporting the Y6 SEND and vulnerable pupils to ensure a smooth transition into KS3.

Since then I have worked as a 1:1 SEN teaching assistant where I have also had the opportunity to broaden my skills and strategies working 1:1 with an autistic child. This has included lots of interventions to help with regulating their emotions and helping them to develop more independence.

During my time in King James I Academy whilst I was in Year 11, 12 and 13 and also the first two years I was at University, I undertook the implementation of the Year 5 Curriculum weeks and the Year 6 No wasted weeks/induction days within King James I Academy. This involved me leading a group from a Primary School assigned to me and I was there to support them with the transition from primary to secondary education. I supported the pupils throughout the whole process, assisted during lessons and gave tours. In addition, I also led trampolining sessions as I had been taking a class for approximately 10 years and it was something that I really enjoyed doing and modelling to others.

During my employment at ROF 59, I effectively worked with individuals and groups that included SEND, both children and adults. I supervised the children on the trampolines, helped with anything they needed and also liaised with parents and carers. This developed my communication skills and the ability to be flexible and responsive in the workplace.
Whilst in Sixth Form, I successfully participated in work experience for my Health and Social care course at Etherley Lane Primary School, for a six-month period. During this placement, I withdrew small groups from the Year 3 class that was predominately SEND pupils and supported them with Maths, English and Reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenging experience of working one to one with a pupil with an EHCP during this time and developing a range of behavioural and teaching and learning strategies to keep the child focused and motivated to learn.
