About Me
Hi, I'm Emma! I'm a university student who is home in Sheffield for the summer, so I would love to be able to help out with childcare duties whilst I'm here. I'm very personable and caring, whilst also being reliable and hardworking. I have both work and volunteering experience with children and adolescents so would love to be able to demonstrate this here. In my free time, I love reading, spending time in the outdoors and seeing my friends!
My Experience
1. Babysitter and reading partner for two children of 5 and 8 years old - Before COVID, I went round to a family's house weekly to support the children with their homework, literacy skills and reading. On occasion I also took them to a nearby park or engaged in other activities with them. One of the children was largely non-verbal. This was a very fulfilling role, and I loved socialising with the children whilst also seeing their progression in a multitude of domains.
2. Classroom assistant and receptionist at Kumon (Feb 2020 - September 2021) - I supported young children to advance their mathematics and literacy skills as well as taking a lead role in communicating with parents. I worked one-on-one with several primary school-aged children.
3. Mental wellbeing research internship (Nov 2022 - May 2023) - I communicated with adolescents who were currently experiencing depressive / anxiety symptoms and their parents, as well as shadowing several group adolescent therapy sessions in schools.
My Qualifications
My educational qualifications are as such:
1. 10 GCSEs, including English (9 / A**), Science (9 / A**), Mathematics (7 / A).
2. 3 A-levels: Biology (A*), Geography (A*), Psychology (A*).
3. I've just completed my second year of studying Psychology at the University of Exeter and was awarded a first in Year 1.
My Availability
I am available for the majority of summer: end of June 2023 - end of August 2023. I wish to be highly flexible with my availability so do get in touch if there are any specific requests with availability!
