My Summary

My Experience

As an older sibling I have a lot of experience being in an environment with kids and have a personal understanding of what it’s like to be a sibling. Of course this means I understand the frustration of sibling conflicts and other issues, as the oldest sibling in my family that has meant that I am often in the position of a mediator. I am good at resolving conflicts and empathising with younger individuals.

As well as this I have also spent time babysitting for neighbours and family friends and within my last year of school took a role as a mentor for the younger students. I also acted as a facilitator in the LGBT group at school and therefore have experience helping others navigate their identities.

My own experiences being autistic mean that not only do I have an thorough understanding of difficulties associated with being autistic, I can also empathise and communicate as an autistic person. This means that I don’t find it difficult to understand things like having sensory issues surrounding food, clothing, lighting etc and have a personal understanding of how to predict deescalate meltdowns and overload and I know how autistic individuals engage with their interests and emotions.

Because of one of my interests being that of psychology, especially surrounding neurodivergence, I am really interested in spending more time with autistic individuals, especially children because it’s something I’m interested studying further during my time at university and perhaps post grad.

My Qualifications

I completed my GCSEs in 2021 and achieved the grades 9,9,8,8,7,7,6,6,6

In 2022 I completed my Scottish Highers achieving the grades AABB

This year I finished my Advanced Highers and hope to achieve the grades AB in English and Physics as well as an A* in A Level Art and an additional A in Higher RMPS
