About Me
My name is Emma. I am 26 years old and I am a qualified Teacher, who has been working with SEND children ages 2-19 for four years. I have my own car and a DBS certificate. In my personal life I love art, reading, traveling and taking my dog on hikes.
I am a dedicated, trustworthy and empathetic person. I am very patient and I understand how frustrating it can feel to not understand a new topic straight away. I have worked with young people who have a variety of additional learning needs, meaning that I can adapt my tutoring style to meet each leaner. For example, incorporating any sensory requirements into our sessions. I am passionate about working with young people and helping them to grow and achieve their dreams.
When working with children outside of the education sector, I like to take a child-first approach. If your child loves baking, reading, watching films, drama or yoga, I will adapt our day to suit their interests and their needs.
My Experience
I have four years experience of working within the Education Sector. Of those four years, three have been spent working within SEND environments. I have worked with all ages, from 2-19 years old. I have worked with children and young adults with a variety of additional needs. Currently, I specialise in working with young people who have a diagnosis of Autism. I have worked with a variety of non-verbal children and I have received training and certification in PECS and Makaton.
I have an extensive list of training which can be provided if requested. I have a full DBS check, first aid training, safeguarding training and a full drivers licence.
I am RWI trained and can delivery phonics tuition for both younger and older learners. I am a fully trained Primary Teacher and as such, I am able to tutor primary aged children in all areas including SATS preparation.
Despite being Primary trained, I currently work within a Secondary SEND School. Due to this, I have experience of delivering Functional Skills Qualifications in Maths, English and ICT. I have also delivered ASDAN qualifications in Science and History. I am able to confidently tutor GCSE English as I possess a degree in English Literature and Classical studies. I can also tutor up to GCSE in Maths, History, Media Studies and Art.
