I'm a 31-year-old single woman residing in central Exeter, eager to embark on a career in childcare and early years education. My Experience
I'm genuinely enthusiastic about providing care and support to young people. Over the past five years, I've cultivated a significant background in domiciliary care, with a focused commitment to caring for young people with Downs Syndrome and complex learning disabilities.
I have also undergone training with Exeter College to become a Counsellor, and I intend to continue my professional development in this field next year. My goal is to deepen my understanding of the benefits of talking therapies and enhance my capacity to offer emotional support in my work.
I have recently started working as a Learning & Wellbeing Practitioner in a Forest School on Dartmoor, where I support children with special needs such as Autism and ADHD. This role has sharpened my ability to adapt, exhibit patience, and provide tailored educational support.
In a somewhat unrelated role, I have spent three years working part-time as a self-employed Massage Therapist. Although different from childcare, it has enriched my skills in caring for and nurturing peoples well-being.
Lastly, I'd like to say a little bit about my love of play! I think it's a vital part of our social lives in childhood and adulthood alike! It allows for the exploration of the world, problem-solving, the development of creativity as well as promoting social interaction and emotional regulation. It's a big part of what I bring as a Childcare Practitioner.
Outside of work, I have a passion for walking and hiking, particularly along the South West Coast Path. Being out in the countryside or by the coast is truly my happy place, and I believe a connection with nature can improve peoples lives.
I bring a unique blend of professional experience and genuine passion to the table. My mission is to ensure the children I work with receive the support and care they require, whilst encouraging exploration of nature and play.
