My Experience

2018-2019
I worked as nursery nurse and teaching assistant with nursery and reception age children. My responsibilities included preparing activities and encouraging the children to take part and ensuring equal opportunities of care. I helped create outdoor games to enhance social, language and communication skills. I also spent time supporting children on a one-to-one basis ranging from PE to maths.
2019-2021
I worked with early years children from baby to four years old. This included taking children off site walks to explore their environment and play games with them whilst ensuring all health and safety needs were applied and met. I supervised during mealtimes and would teach basic hygiene such as hand washing, toilet training and use of cutlery, along with nappy changing if required. I created and ran activities that are fun and enjoyable throughout the day.
In addition to this I reported and advised parents or carers of any achievements, concerns or matters they needed to be aware of regarding their children’s day.
2021- 2022
I worked as a nursery nurse and teacher assistant up to reception age. I supervised the children during morning breaks, helped them with library visits twice a week, as well as teaching hygiene such as hand-washing, toilet care and tidying up. Similarly, I created fun and enjoyably indoor and outdoor activities to provide an inclusive environment for the children.
2022- 2023
I returned to Nursery and after completing my college courses. In the Hampton centre, I was promoted to Classroom Leader for babies with responsibility for other members of staff. We would open, organise, maintain and closedown the room daily. As a manager I attended monthly review meetings and any training necessary to keep up the nursery’s highly professional status. I encouraged classroom participation and positive interaction with other children, greeted each child and parent when they arrived at school and cultivated strong relationships with families to improve learning both inside and outside of the classroom. I ensured best quality teaching by ensuring that the curriculum was followed, and lesson plans were used effectively. This would be achieved alongside all of the daily classroom and nursery tasks required as described in previous positions.
